Daemon X Machina is a bit of a cult hit. While the story was about as shallow as an oil spill from a rusted mech, the gameplay was chaotic and energetic, giving you the chance to dart across arenas despite being in a multi-tonne robot chassis. It's a lot of fun, but Daemon X Machina Titanic Scion is looking to take it up a gear with the sequel, and you can pre-order the new entry at a discount already, thanks to Fanatical.

Looking to cut through the crowd with a blade-wielding robot and hoping to reach the top of the best mech games list, Daemon X Machina Titanic Scion has a lot to face - especially after the genre was reinvigorated by 2023's release of Armored Core 6. However, it doesn't seem to be following in FromSoftware's footsteps, but carving its own path through the robotic chaos.

Set a few hundred years after the first game, Daemon X Machina Titanic Scion sees you escape The Garden, a facility and home of the Outers (a civilization that looks down on Humans from space), before your mind and personality are wiped and you get turned into a super soldier. You then join the resistance on the planet lovingly called the Ground, fighting alongside humans in an effort to save your friend trapped in The Garden.

Daemon X Machina Titanic Scion's story looks set to fix many of the narrative issues that the first game had, while remaining a vessel for the incredible gameplay that this upcoming PC game seems to offer. In a world full of mechas, you'll grow your own arsenal of armor and weapons to defeat Axiom's forces, culminating in hectic battles across sky and land.

While it doesn't look like it's going to be one of those games that changes the landscape forever, it looks fun and engaging, and who doesn't enjoy flying around in a metal death machine? Right now, you can grab Daemon X Machina Titanic Scion for just $62.29 / £53.59 at Fanatical (down from $70 / £60), making the idea of jumping into a titanic mech even more enticing.

If you pre-order the standard edition, you'll get the Bahamut skin for your Arsenal, as well as a different Outer skin for your character. Alternatively, you could also opt for the more expensive editions, with the deluxe and super deluxe options giving you varying skin sets and the post-launch Into the Abyss expansion.

So, if the best action games make up some of your all-time favorites, I'd recommend giving Daemon X Machina Titanic Scion a shot. If you're after a bit of a palate cleanser after that, our list of the best fantasy games is also filled with some excellent suggestions.
