It's always an exciting time of year when Dead by Daylight adds a new killer. While it's great to see familiar faces from pop culture have a turn at chasing players through grimy corridors and abandoned sheds, I prefer the original chapters where we see creatures of folklore take centre stage. It's no different in Sinister Grace, where the devs at Behaviour Interactive have cooked up a sinister baddie based on Thai mythology. This mysterious floating head could be the game's creepiest killer yet.

The Krasue might be Dead by Daylight's grimmest killer yet, which sure is saying something. It's got body horror that would make David Cronenberg flinch, and gameplay to match. This is "something for the gore fans," creative director Dave Richard says in a press release, before invoking the most disgusting description of anything I have ever heard.

"Her body rips and peels open like a blister under pressure," he says. I don't know about you, but I already feel sick. I understand that this is one of the best horror games around, but seeing it written out is almost worse than watching it on a screen.

When playing as the Krasue, you can alternate between two forms, that of cursed opera singer Burong Sukapat's body, and that of her floating head. As the head, you're faster and can make use of a deadly melee attack, the Intestinal Whip. On foot, she has a ranged projectile, Leeching Gland, which she spits at survivors to infect them with a debilitating virus.

With a new killer comes a new survivor, too. Vee Boonyasak is a punk drummer who brings perks that are "fueled by the spirit of rock and roll." What does that mean? Your guess is as good as mine, but I hope it's distinct enough from the likes of Aestri and Yun-Jin.

With influences from Thai culture and a distinct musical theme running through the entire update, this original chapter isn't to be missed.

Dead by Daylight: Sinister Grace is now available to play on Public Test Build (PTB), and the full Chapter will release later in September 2025. You can buy the game on Steam here.
