While I admire Factorio, for me, Satisfactory is the champion of the automation genre, and I will always have a soft spot for it. I fell in love with it quickly once I picked it up in early access, and I actually upgraded my PC so that it could better run the game with a huge uncoordinated factory setup in my 100-hour save. It hooks you in with a simple premise, and you'll find yourself working on more complex automations. If you want to see why it's so engaging, you can grab Satisfactory for its lowest price since 1.0.

Filled with mechanics that fans of the best survival games will be familiar with, you go from having very little on you to getting more valuable resources, but the main loop of Satisfactory is focused on building an impressive and constantly growing factory (or factories, most likely) that constantly creates materials for you. It's very, dare I say, satisfactory to watch everything come together.

It's not an aimless experience, in case you're worried about a lack of a goal. Satisfactory tasks you (and your friends, if you prefer co-op games) with constructing a space elevator that sends your earned resources to FICSIT, a megacorp that you and your fellow pioneers work for. Each level of the space elevator requires more elusive materials than the last, so there's a good difficulty curve.

It starts out simple and accessible, but quickly becomes overwhelming in a good way. Trust me when I say your first few attempts will see you creating spaghetti factories - conveyors and different automated parts that loop over and around each other, looking extremely messy instead of being refined and sleek. It sounds confusing, but believe me, it's so engrossing that I had actually drawn plans for my potential factories.

While the sandbox game has been at a cheaper price before, it's worth noting that this was prior to its full launch in late 2024. Since then, the game has had a price rise after leaving early access, and it's now at its cheapest price since the 1.0 update. Right now, you can grab Satisfactory for just $27.99 / £23.45 at Humble Bundle, giving you a hefty 30% discount off the retail price, and scoring one of the best building games at a fraction of the cost.

Even when looking at the upcoming PC games list, I don't see many factory games popping up often, so why not get one of the genre's best and grab Satisfactory at such a huge discount? Alternatively, if you're looking for something a little different (but with just as much planning), there are plenty of options on the best strategy games list that will suit your style.

Once you grab a copy of Satisfactory, make sure to join our PCGamesN community Discord and showcase your first factory. Don't be afraid if it's a little messy - it happens to all of us.
