Destiny Rising tier list and how to reroll

What are the best Destiny Rising characters? With around ten characters already in the game and several more known to be on the horizon, we've got to work on testing, judging, and grading the Legendary and Mythic heroes available through its launch banners, battle passes, and promotional missions. The answers may surprise you.

Unlike Destiny 2, Destiny Rising isn't all about upgrading your personal avatar. Instead, this "Wolf" fills a pre-determined spot in the roster. Its weapon type, element, and skills are static. Changing the way you play means pulling and upgrading other characters like Ikora, Jolder, and Gywnn through a gacha system using currencies not exclusive to what Destiny Rising codes can get you.

Destiny Rising tier list - best characters to use

Here's how best to build up your Destiny Rising fireteam, with considerations made for acquisition methods, free characters, and the roles they're expected to fill in a group:

Wolf

• Element: Solar
• Role: Offence
• Combat Style: Medium Range
• Weapon Type: Auto Rifle / Grenade Launcher

All aspects of Wolf's skillset revolve around unmitigated damage. With proper reloads, weapon cycling, and adequate melee moves, various resets will lead to little downtime with this character. In the right hands he hits hard, fast, and hits hard and fast again.

High mobility means his medium-range classification can be misleading. Run, gun, close the distance, and use the sword techniques to charge the super needed to deal ridiculous damage to larger enemies.

Jolder

• Element: Void
• Role: Defense
• Combat Style: Close Range
• Weapon Type: SMG / Sword

If you want to go full Captain America, Jolder is the Destiny Rising hero for you. With SMGs, a sword, and a mighty shield, she's designed to run in firing and smash down with her shield before slicing, dicing, and smashing targets as they naively attempt to swarm her.

Attacks against her or her defensive Barrier of Starlight fuel Rage she can spend or hold to regenerate health in combat. By bouncing her shield between targets and leaving the Fireteam to fight from the safety of her bubble, you'll keep Rage coming in to fuel Jolder's hefty health regeneration effects.

Tan-2

• Element: Solar
• Role: Support
• Combat Style: Long Range
• Weapon Type: Scout Rifle / Sniper Rifle

Tan-2 is the premier support hero at launch. With ultra-long range weapons in the Scout and Sniper Rifle class, he's able to deliver extreme damage to weakpoints from a safe distance while boosting team damage in the process. This makes him less than ideal in solo situations, but hugely desirable in groups like Strikes and Raids.

On top of boosting ally power, Tan-2's abilities can cause the targets to deal more damage, take more damage, and cause allies to deal small amounts of Solar damage, too. Tan-2 switches between two different modes to change the effects of his abilities, making him a difficult character to properly utilize in combat.

Xuan Wei

• Element: Arc
• Role: Offense
• Combat Style: Close Range
• Weapon Type: Fusion Rifle / Shotgun

Xuan Wei is a hulking brute of a melee fighter with heaps of controlling abilities to his name. He can charge in, pull enemies toward him, and knock groups away from the team. With impact-heavy Fusion Rifles and close-range Shotguns to his name, he comes packing heat and serious stopping power.

Landing finishing blows triggers an explosion, facilitating an expansive chain of area damage as he moves from one enemy to the next. At higher Relic levels, triggering these well-timed explosions will quickly reset his method of tethering groups, opening up more opportunities to mow down targets with primal rage.

Gwynn

• Element: Void
• Role: Offense
• Combat Style: Close Range
• Weapon Type: Sidearm / Shotgun

Destiny Rising's own grim reaper siphons the souls of defeated enemies to fuel her health and feed her Void Dance ability. You'll have to run in to grab these in most cases, but by carefully weaving between her abilities, you'll unlock the means for these Void Souls to come to you, creating a way to dance between her powerful attacks.

With gap-closing abilities like Soul Assault at hand, Gwynn can become a soul-harvesting machine capable of serious solo strength. Paired with a few mitigation methods, her exceptional health regen method can make her practically unstoppable in the right hands.

Finnala

• Element: Solar
• Role: Defense
• Combat Style: Close Range
• Weapon Type: Auto Rifle / Sword

Finnala brings desert heat and scorching flame to any Fireteam. As a Defense-minded hero, she can drop into the fray, becoming a spinning cyclone of fire to pull in targets, slashing them with her sword and leaving lasting fire to burn up any stragglers.

This inflicts Taunt, too, ensuring survivors stay glued to Finnala. In a pinch, her Blazing Barrier can save a struggling team if they stick together, reducing incoming damage while spewing out warming Firesprites to heal nearby allies. Ning Fei

• Element: Arc
• Role: Offense
• Combat Style: Close Range
• Weapon Type: SMG / Auto Crossbow

Destiny Rising's early answer to Wukong comes packing a crossbow for good measure.

With a Chain Lightning passive, Clones at his disposal, and multiple means of boosting his mobility, Ning Fei can dance between packs of opponents with ease, striking the toughest for high single-target damage while leaving his clones and chain lightning to zap down softer minions.

Move onto the next pack with a Lightning Strike assault from above and anyone caught in the crash will be without a way to heal until it's too late.

Ikora

• Element: Void
• Role: Offense
• Combat Style: Long Range
• Weapon Type: Light Grenade Launcher/ Rocket Launcher

Ikora excels are burst and area damage due largely to her preference for explosive weapons. Light grenade launchers work well to dispatch groups of weaker targets with each round, leaving the slower rocket launcher to deal heavy damage to larger targets.

Her Gravitational Collapse ability can round up targets, setting up either of her weapons for maximum damage. Any killing blow or assist contributes to the recharge rate of her abilities, encouraging aggressive play, while her Weapon Mastery means strikes with her abilities boost the explosiveness of her weapons.

Kabr

• Element: Arc
• Role: Defense
• Combat Style: Medium Range
• Weapon Type: Pulse Rifle / Machine Gun

Introduced as your first Fireteam companion, Kabr is a defense-oriented hero. His abilities prioritise barriers for the team to hide behind, and blinding shots to mitigate any incoming damage from large targets or smaller packs.

Blinding targets triggers passive health and shield regen, negating the typical need to avoid damage to recover. At higher power levels, a Fireteam can shoot through Kabr's protective barriers to imbue each shot with Chain Lightning for area damage.

Attal

• Element: Arc
• Role: Support
• Combat Style: Medium Range
• Weapon type: Hand Cannon/Linear Fusion Rifle

Attal is a powerful healer and provides numerous damage mitigation passives. Her active abilities focus on healing individual allies and striking multiple opponents with debilitating effects like Slow and Blind. By building out her Relics, Attal can heal multiple nearby enemies while dealing more damage to distant targets.

Rerolling in Destiny Rising means resetting your account and starting fresh. This gives you another chance to get what you want from the easily obtained free pulls in the opening moments of the game.

Rerolling gives you the opportunity, given time and luck, to only progress with a top-tier weapon. This can save you time in the long run by giving you powerful meta characters capable of clearing bosses and tough content without costly upgrades.

To reroll in Destiny Rising, make sure you start the game with a Guest account. This is one that isn't tied to an email address or service. These can be deleted and reset with a few clicks, making way for a fresh attempt.

Once you've made your account, clear the tutorial mission, skipping cutscenes whenever possible. You'll need to clear up to Chapter 1-2 to unlock character pulls and the means to spend your first batch of currency.

Just keep following the mission prompts on the left side of the screen until you're forced to play as Kabr. Upon completing this mission, you'll head to the recruitment counter and complete a tutorial pull, which guarantees Attal as your third Fireteam member.

From that point on, you're free to claim Bon Voyage Charm and Lumina Leaf currencies via mission rewards, the shop, mailbox, and various other menus. Just click what you can until all the notification symbols around the screen have disappeared. Pull in the Permanent banner until you've exhausted your currencies.

If you don't get a character you want, open the Settings menu, go to the Other tab, click Player Center at the top, and finally the Account Deletion button. Follow the prompts and restart the whole process until you get a top-tier character that fits your playstyle.
