Destiny Rising has finally landed, giving new lights and old heads the chance to dive back in time to experience a brand new adventure set in an alternate timeline. The only issue is that Bungie and NetEase's free-to-play RPG spinoff is only available on mobile devices… or is it? Thanks to the modern marvel of emulation, it's possible to jump into the fray from your suped up rig, and below we'll be teaching you how to play Destiny Rising on PC.

Destiny Rising is chock full of familiar faces like chief 'lock Ikora, as well as characters you'll have only heard of through lore snippets or in-game items (Radegast's Fury, my beloved). Instead of playing a single Guardian and harnessing the Destiny 2 class system, you'll get to pilot multiple Lightbearers with unique abilities that you pull from its gacha system. Rising's also been a point of envy for Guardians everywhere, as it launches with long-desired features for one of the best MMOs, like dual wielding and player housing. Most importantly, there's Sparrow Racing. Sparrow Racing!

Despite being a mobile-only release, Destiny Rising comes with full keyboard and mouse support. With a trusty emulator at hand, you can get the game running on PC, saving your mobile device from turning into an oven during long play sessions. So, how do you do it?

There are two ways to play Destiny Rising on PC: Bluestacks and MuMuPlayer. The former has long been the go-to for emulation aficionados, but I'd actually recommend MuMu for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it's the 'official' method specified on the Destiny Rising site, so I'd expect it to provide the best experience. Secondly, it comes with Rising pre-installed when you download it, saving you the faff of having to sign into Google's Play Store and manually getting it.

To play Destiny Rising on PC:

  • Head to the Destiny Rising site. It's right here.
  • Click 'Play on PC' and download MuMuPlayer.
  • When prompted, install Destiny Rising.

Having played through the opening mission myself, I'm pleased to report Rising's performance is seamless on my Ryzen 5 3600/RTX 4070ti-equipped rig, even with the settings cranked to max. I'm already pleasantly surprised by the gameplay quality, though it's early days yet. The big tell for how well Rising will fare longterm is down to its gacha system, which looks to be on the more forgiving end of the spectrum.

As it stands, 60 pulls guarantees the featured character, with no 50/50 to worry about. Rates ramp up, increasing the odds of hitting the deeper into the banner you get. On paper, this is much more free-to-play friendly than some of the other best gacha games, including the likes of Honkai Star Rail and Wuthering Waves. However, the rate at which you accrue Rising's gacha currency, Lumina Leaves, as well as the importance of dupes, will ultimately dictate just how kind it will be on your wallet. Just make sure you keep an eye on our Destiny Rising codes guide for a healthy injection of freebies.
