Soulstice is one of those games that slipped under the radar for a lot of people, but it oozes gothic horror charm and features stylish, bombastic combat in the same vein as Devil May Cry or Bayonetta. Launching back in late 2022, it's an indie that was clearly inspired by the hack-and-slash genre's greatest hits, but is unique enough to offer a darker, more serious tale, and you can get this brilliant game - alongside two others - for under $5 if you're quick.

You'd be forgiven for seeing the visual style of Soulstice and assuming it's another clone of the best soulslike games, with an anime-inspired aesthetic that's been popular in action RPGs recently. However, it's definitely not the challenging, brutal combat that Elden Ring fans are familiar with, but instead, a pure character action game where you can combo enemies effortlessly with an assortment of weapons.

You play as Briar and Lute, two sisters whose souls are bound together and have been reborn as a Chimera. Briar has been granted superhuman strength, while Lute is a mere shade, but with mystical abilities to make her life a little easier. Even the best of sibling relationships would struggle with being mystically conjoined like this, and the premise adds an interesting dynamic on top of a story that deals with a world-ending threat posed by Wraiths.

It emulates the best action games with a Devil May Cry-style gameplay loop, with some elements of the third game in the series, and a visual style that Bayonetta fans will love. Juggling enemies with a cascade of armaments remains as satisfying as it does in Capcom's iconic Dante-led series, and while the camera does cause occasional problems, the world is full of enough charm to make the overall experience charming.

If your attention has been piqued, you can grab Soulstice Deluxe Edition, alongside two other games, for just $4.95 / £4.95 with the Fanatical Blazing Bundle. That makes each game roughly $1.65 / £1.65 each, and for hours of fun, that's a juicy deal - well, let's just say, it's a price slash that you don't need to combo to get.

There are plenty of other exciting games in this bundle, ranging from some underrated indie games to strategy games, so there's no shortage of titles to choose from. If you're keen to fill up your Steam library right now, here are some of the top games available in Fanatical's Blazing Bundle:

  • Soulstice
  • House Builder
  • Aquarist
  • Delivery Inc.
  • Stellar Settlers
  • Frog Detective 3
  • Figment 2: Creed Valley
  • Mini City Mayhem

While Soulstice may have been an exciting entry in the dormant character action genre of experiences, there are some interesting upcoming PC games, like Lost Soul Aside, that should fill that DMC-loving part of your heart.
