No game launches in a perfect state. In 2025, most games arrive with a day one patch to install, because devs have been working until the very last minute to polish and perfect their creation. While it's never a great experience for those of us without speedy internet connections, the flipside is, in theory, we get to play a better version of the game. Konami hasn't promised a day one patch for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater just yet, but it has said it's "investigating" some pretty major bugs a day before launch.

Players who pre-ordered Metal Gear Solid Delta have been ploughing through the familiar story during their 48-hour early access window. So far reception to the stealth game has been fairly glowing, with a Mostly Positive rating on Steam - falling slightly short of the praise in our Metal Gear Solid Delta review. However, as is often the case with early adopters, they've also acted as a legion of playtesters, and have notified Konami of numerous game-breaking bugs still present in the game.

There aren't any problems with the Metal Gear Solid Delta bosses, or most of the gameplay. In fact, most of the issues stem from taking off your hat at the wrong time.

If you're wearing the crocodile cap - a particularly fetching piece of headwear - may I suggest not taking it off from the Survival Viewer. The entire game may crash. The same goes for performing an additional survival knife attack after securing food, and collecting food near a hungry crocodile. Presumably, the ravenous reptile decides to chomp on the code when you have away with its breakfast.

Konami is also aware of other minor issues, such as Naked Snake floating in mid-air sometimes when transitioning from a roll to a crawl. Opening the Radio Window can also crash the whole game.

Metal Gear Solid Delta review: Snake scouting ahead.

As I mentioned earlier, Konami says it is "actively investigating" the issues, but says "it will take a little longer to implement the fixes." It's unclear whether they will be patched for the full launch on Friday, but time is running out if that's the goal.

As you prepare to jump back into Kojima's masterpiece, make sure your PC meets the Metal Gear Solid Delta system requirements so you're not left flailing once it's downloaded. You can also check out more of our favorite action games for a similar experience.
