Warframe's Caliban Prime finally arrives after those epic The Old Peace teasers

It's Prime time once again in Warframe, and while all of the game's characters have their admirers, this one is a particular fan-favorite. Yes, Caliban Prime is here at last. Less than a year on from a monumental rework that made him incredibly strong, and a couple of months after a cameo in a gameplay showcase for The Old Peace, Caliban Prime can be added to your arsenal from today.

Looking solely at his enhanced suite of abilities - including a juiced-up Venato Prime scythe and increased energy and shields - Caliban Prime is a tasty prospect. But add on top of that a brand-new weapon to Warframe, Vadarya Prime, and things are looking even more delicious. Described as a "sniper rifle that can electrify from a great distance," it essentially turns any enemies you hit into lightning rods. Bolts of lightning can emit out of them and have a chance of jumping to nearby enemies, causing a chain of electrical damage.

Caliban Prime is also drenched in lore relevant to The Old Peace, the multiplayer game's huge upcoming quest line that was shown off a little earlier in the year. His Prime was actually teased in The Old Peace's gameplay footage, such is his significance to its events and narrative.

"Our Primes are a pivotal window into the lore of Warframe's history pre-dating the player journey in-game, and later this year, The Old Peace will let us experience it firsthand," says Megan Everett, community director at Digital Extremes. "We want Primes to go beyond fancy cosmetics, expanding on Warframe's world-building by reimagining familiar playable characters in their 'original' form. The community's response to Caliban Prime's in-game reveal during our TennoCon demo is encouraging as we continue to find more creative ways to introduce new Primes in addition to the fun Prime trailers we all love."

Caliban Prime is available to earn for free in Warframe right now by acquiring parts from Void Relics, so get grinding.

However, if you want to skip the queue, the new window of Prime Access will let you do just that. Across three different tiers of bundles, the Vadarya Prime and Venato Prime weapons, cosmetic packs, and Caliban Prime himself are available to purchase and instantly unlock. There are some exclusive items to snap up too, including the Tauron Prime Regalia outfit for the Operator and Drifter and some bespoke Caliban Prime glyphs.
