If you've played a single second of Apex Legends Season 26, you've probably heard the rapid bursts of the RE-45 pistol. What used to be a joke of a weapon, something you'd pick up to hold all your R99 attachments until you find an SMG, has been transformed thanks to a huge buff this season. It switched to using energy ammo, and now fires in a burst pattern similar to the Nemesis assault rifle, which speeds up the more consecutive bursts you fire. Put simply, the new RE-45 was busted, more broken than Bangalore, and many players were running around ranked mode with two of them.
Thankfully, Respawn has nerfed the powerful pistol. The magazine size has been reduced by three for all tiers, meaning that players should no longer be able to one-clip opponents. Horizontal and vertical recoil have also been increased, making it more difficult to use, and the projectile size has been reduced to bring it in line with other pistols, which means you'll have to be more accurate with your shots.
Apex Legends should feel a little fairer after this update, but I'm a little gutted. Apex is one of the best FPS games, and my personal favorite, but I don't get much of a chance to play any more. Therefore, I often rely on the most recently-buffed weapons to get my kicks. I know, I'm a dirty meta rat, I've heard it all before. But now I'll have to go back to using my favored Flatline/Volt SMG combo, and my K/D will inevitably suffer.
I understand that this change was made for the good of the game, but it's bad for me, personally. There is the small benefit that I won't be one-clipped by the RE-45 for the remainder of the season, but I'll just end up getting shafted by a controller player with an aim assisted SMG anyway.
The update also increased the spawn rate of EVO Harvesters, and the chance for multiple to spawn at the same POI, but that's hardly going to get the people talking, is it?
If can't stand the sound of another burst of energy ammo, nerfed or not, why not try out some other multiplayer games to cool off? Make sure you've got the best gaming monitor for the job, too, so you can eke out every frame you need in a 1v1.
