What are the best PC games in 2025? Whether you're simply looking for something to pass the time or have a pile of virtual money burning a hole in your virtual wallet, you may want to try out the latest PC games because they're, well, new and shiny.

As much as we love firing up our favorite classic again, there are loads of new PC games that deserve some attention, too. There is something for everyone, from big-budget RPG games to indie strategy games. Whatever you're into, stay up to date with all the latest and greatest releases right here on PCGamesN.

The best PC games in 2025 are:

Mafia The Old Country

Taking the series back to its roots, Mafia The Old Country is a well-worn mob story set in the beautiful and brutal 1900s Sicily. You take on the role of Enzo as he fights to prove his worth to the Family, devoting his life to the crime boss, Don Torrisi.

Soon rising through the ranks, the pressure builds, and Enzo's role within the crime organization intensifies, leading to a spectacular finale. In Reid's Mafia The Old Country review, the "small-scale character work, mood setting, and straightforward action" are all standouts for this action-adventure game.

Wuchang Fallen Feathers

Taking Chinese history and culture as inspiration, Wuchang Fallen Feathers is a stunning soulslike where you journey across the ancient Shu region searching for your lost sister. In our Wuchang Fallen Feathers review, Nat says that Wuchang "exceeds all expectations" as a soulslike that's "not content to settle for a pale imitation of FromSoftware."

Its launch proved to have a few technical teething issues, with problems with performance, but it's largely settled thanks to some post-launch updates, and is a new soulslike game that shouldn't be missed.

Roadcraft

We're partial to a simulation game or two, but few have impressed us as fervently as Saber Interactive's Roadcraft. This surprise follow-up to Snowrunner, Mudrunner, and Spintires repurposes their off-road foundations with a more humanitarian goal in mind: rebuilding infrastructure following a natural disaster.

In our Roadcraft review, Ed calls it "one of the best games of this year" where "consequences are represented by millimetres, and single foot pounds of pressure." Your success in spreading asphalt, leveling roads, and lifting concrete isn't determined by the usual procession of buttons and bars endemic in survival games, but by your tactility in Roadcraft's digital space. The progress is slow, often painstaking, but with it comes the satisfaction of a job well done.

A yellow car going around a corner in F1 25.

F1 25

There's only so much Codemasters can change year to year for their racing game series. For F1 25, focus was squared almost entirely on how the driving feels. Hitting the tracks in the super-powered machines is the best it's been in a long time.

In our F1 25 review, Toby Durant said that the game "offers a stronger driving experience and greater attention to detail than its predecessors, with major changes to My Team breathing new life into the mode. It's not a revolution, but it's undoubtedly Codemasters' best F1 game in years."

Doom The Dark Ages

The Doom trilogy comes to a close with a prequel that tells the story of the Doom Slayer and his hatred for demonic forces. The Dark Ages focuses on the lore behind the slayer, featuring more cutscenes than both Doom 2016 and Eternal combined. Equipped with a shield saw to block and parry incoming attacks, you can also use this tool offensively to break through shields, slice through fodder, and slam into enemies.

The Dark Ages utilizes the power of the id Tech 8 engine to create massive levels to roam around in, filled with secrets and upgrades to uncover. To get around these levels, you gain access to a dragon which you can use to fly around the environment while destroying everything in your path. There are also levels where you take control of the Atlan mech, essentially turning the Doom Slayer into a giant, hulking monster. Give Aaron's Doom The Dark Ages review a read to see what makes this shooter shine.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Sandfall Interactive's stunning debut game, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has risen from (ahem) obscurity to become a surprise GOTY contender of 2025. This turn-based RPG is as much a love letter to old-school JRPGs as it is a breath of fresh air, incorporating Sekiro-style parries and dodges that usher real-time elements into traditionally static combat. Between Expedition 33 weapons, skills, and pictos, there's plenty of scope to experiment with Clair Obscur builds that are as flashy as they are fun.

Of course, mechanics aren't the be-all and end-all, and Expedition 33 has the narrative chops to prove it. What begins as an ill-fated expedition to stop an enchanted Paintress from erasing the lives of friends and family in the doomed city of Lumiere becomes a transcendental portrait of grief captured in dramatic moments between characters brought to life by the likes of Andy Serkis, Ben Starr, and Jennifer English. In our Clair Obscur Expedition 33 review, Josh deems it a "new modern classic" for fantasy game fans, so don't sleep on it.

Oblivion Remastered

Out of nowhere came the remastered version of the beloved Elder Scrolls classic in a bid to gather veteran players back into the scrappy folds of nostalgic gameplay and entice new players in with its shiny makeover. Skyrim is the majority of our first venture into Elder Scrolls, but Oblivion paved the way, and its stealth landing has been met with delight for those looking to sink many hours into an Elder Scrolls game before the arrival of the Elder Scrolls 6 release date.

As Nat says in her Oblivion Remastered review, "Was an Oblivion remaster necessary? I don't think so. The original is dated, but not so much that it's unplayable. If anything, Morrowind is the Elder Scrolls crying out for such treatment. However, if an Oblivion remaster has to exist, it's safe to say I'm happy with this one."

Best new PC games: a blue wall with a doorframe in the centre. A young boy is walking through another door far in the distance.

Blue Prince

A tantalizing mix of puzzle game and roguelike, Blue Prince is this year's indie darling, snatching the crown from the back of Balatro's closet. Blue Prince tasks you, a young man with a very rich grandfather, to find a secret room in a large estate. If you manage to find this room, the estate is yours.

The rub here is that the estate is blank, and rooms only appear when you open the door to them. You're given a choice from three blueprints (get it?) for each room, and must find a way around the estate. Moving around is only half the challenge, however, as there are plenty of both overt and hidden puzzles that you'll have to solve to get a grasp on the situation.

It's calm, it's eerie, it's fantastic. Give PK's Blue Prince review a read if you want to know more; it's a game we would wholeheartedly recommend for those who love a challenge, but don't want to be rushed.

A man and a giant cat character talking in Promise Mascot Agency.

Promise Mascot Agency

Promise Mascot Agency is, in a word, bizarre. This open-world game from the creators of Paradise Killer has you explore a cursed Japanese town where brand mascots are brought to life, with all the fluff, charm, and horror that entails. Recruit them, then put them to work through management sim minigames while hunting down the truth behind the dissolution of your clan from the confines of a rusty pickup truck.

In our Promise Mascot Agency review, Miri cites a few key inspirations - "Pokemon, Deadly Premonition, Yakuza, Yo-kai Watch, Persona, Crazy Taxi, Viva Pinata (and so many more)" - but in this case, playing is believing. By turns hilarious and endearing, Promise Mascot Agency is the oddball indie game of 2025.

Best new PC games: a yellow robot walks towards a player with a plunger

Atomfall

Sacking off traditional locales associated with nuclear disasters, Atomfall takes its inspiration from the 1957 Windscale fire, which subsequently plonks us down in merry ol' England - the north-western region of Cumbria, more specifically. Here, we can take part in all sorts of small-town skullduggery within its quarantine zones.

Though it began life as a humble tech demo to showcase developer Rebellion's engine, Atomfall quickly evolved into a wicked little RPG. It's very Bethesda-esque at first glance, but dig a little deeper and you'll be treated to an incredibly immersive jaunt through the English countryside - Nat's glowing Atomfall review can attest to that.

If Atomfall takes your fancy, make sure you first check to see if Atomfall Game Pass is a thing before taking our suite of Atomfall guides for a spin.

Best new PC games: Yasuke fighting in heavy armor

Assassin's Creed Shadows

Ubisoft took its sweet time making an Assassin's Creed game set in Japan, and AC Shadows certainly hasn't disappointed most. While Reid wasn't too forthcoming with praise in our AC Shadows review, critics and fans alike have had a much more positive experience with this open-world adventure.

Whether you're taking out targets from the shadows as the fleet-footed Naoe, or ploughing through hordes of enemies as one-man-army Yasuke, AC Shadows provides playstyle options that fans of both the original sandbox bangers and more modern behemoths can enjoy. Just make sure you bring a hefty helping of our AC Shadows guides with you to make life that little bit easier.

Best new games: two humans wearing fantasy garb and a very small dragon.

Split Fiction

The latest co-op adventure from Hazelight Studios, Split Fiction puts you (and a friend) in the shoes of two aspiring authors who are pulled into a world created from their novels. In our Split Fiction review, Lauren talks about controlling pigs, farting unicorns, and being asked to cook yourself. It runs the gamut of inspiration and ingenuity and is a must-play if you've got a pal willing to go on the journey with you.

Best new PC games: a bustling museum

Two Point Museum

The Two Point series is one of the best out there if you're after an approachable management sim filled to the brim with an imaginative gameplay loop, a plenitude of customization options, and witty quips galore. The latest installment, Two Point Museum, continues the trend, shifting away from hospitals and universities and instead granting you control over bustling heritage houses.

"Two Point Museum is more of the same we've come to expect from Two Point Studios, but its imaginative approach to heritage ensures plenty of museum magic," Aaron writes in our Two Point Museum review. "Boasting a broad thematic range, endless exploration, and more decorative options than you can shake a dinosaur's femur at, you'll end up being the one getting excavated after sinking countless hours of your life into this addictive management sim."

Best new PC games: a man rides the back of a dragon like creature as it attempts to shake him off.

Monster Hunter Wilds

The world can be split into two types of people: those who love Monster Hunter, and those who have tried and failed to love Monster Hunter. Thankfully, Wilds smooths out the initial learning curve ever so slightly, making those first few hours much more engaging than before.

Wilds still brings that best-in-class combat to the table, with even our tempered, in-house veteran Ken very much enjoying his time in the RPG, as you can see in our Monster Hunter Wilds review. You won't find this type of game anywhere else, and if you've even the slightest inclination to beat a huge lizard about the head with a giant trumpet, you should give it a go.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

It's rare to see such a dramatic leap in quality in just one sequel, and yet Warhorse Studios has blown away most people's expectations with the launch of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. KCD 2 follows on directly from the original, telling the tale of Henry of Skalitz, who has found himself on a journey motivated by revenge.

Henry is not like a traditional knight you might see in normal RPGs; he's quite clumsy, he's poor, and he's got a terrifying amount to get through on his KCD2 quest list. Fortunately, we can help make his life (and subsequently, yours) easier with our KCD2 armor and swords guides. Don't forget to read our Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 review, in which Lowell calls the game a "must-play medieval RPG".

Civilization 7

The team at Firaxis has decided to switch things up with the latest entry in the Civilization series, introducing some of the most significant changes to the formula in decades. The Civilization 7 Ages system has been brought in to reinvigorate the 4X genre, which some long-time fans have begun to feel has started to run its course. This splits the game into three Ages: Antiquity, Exploration, and Modern, soft-resetting the match each time a new Age begins. Unsurprisingly, this has massive consequences, giving way to new victories and win conditions.

Take some time to read our thorough Civilization 7 review, written by our former deputy news editor, Ed Smith, to see what this 4x expert thought of all the changes to the game.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Sure, it's not a new game as such, but our own Will had such a great experience with the new PC port of the classic Final Fantasy 7 that we can't overlook it here.

While FF7 Rebirth's 'open-world' exploration still leaves much to be desired, the RPG shines in its story and cast of wonderful characters. The well-known saying might be 'it's the journey, not the destination',  but here, it's the other way round. If you can get past the lackluster travel time across the map, what's waiting for you in terms of quests, lore, characters - both main and side - and emotional beats makes it worth your while. Read Will's Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth review for more.
