An announcement about a favorite long-running TV show took social media by storm recently: The Great British Baking Show is finally coming back. Every fall, home bakers and food competition fans gather around their televisions to watch amateur baking contestants compete for the title of the very best baker.
This British series captured the hearts of U.S. food enthusiasts when it first premiered in the States in 2014. Viewers found it to be a sweet and sentimental juxtaposition to American baking shows that are often full of drama and cutthroat competition (no judgment here—we love that, too).
Hobby bakers around the globe couldn’t help but fall in love with the Great British Baking Show—and now we're settling in for another round.
Welcoming Previous Hosts and New Baking Contestants
Your favorite hosts will be returning for another season of the Great British Baking Show: Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith are the primary hosts of season 13. At their sides will be returning co-hosts Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond, who both joined the show in 2017 and 2023, respectively.
The 12 competing bakers have also been officially announced, with previous competitors joyously welcoming them to the show via Instagram comments. The competitors range in age from 23 to 59 years old, all from diverse professions and locations.
“Oh, good, I’m back to making this show my whole personality again,” read one comment on the Instagram post.

Season Air Date and How to Stream
The newest season will officially drop in the UK on Tuesday, September 2, on the UK broadcaster Channel 4. American fans aren’t quite as lucky, however. As of now, there’s no official U.S. release date for Season 13, but we know it will be released on Netflix and is likely to be launched soon after the UK release.
“Please update Netflix, we need you,” read one comment on @britishbakeoff’s first Instagram announcement.
Other fans have been speculating that September 5 is the most accurate Netflix premiere date, as episodes have been released on Netflix three days after they began airing in the UK.
