For all of its faults, World of Warcraft does a mean dungeon. Whether I'm avoiding the snapping jaws of the lycan-filled Shadowfang Keep, delving into Blackrock Depths, or grabbing another Ravager from Scarlet Monastery (spin to win, baby), there's always a good time to be had. Chief Rebel's Fellowship seeks to isolate the joys of dungeoning, turning it into a standalone experience away from skilling and problematic guildies. During the Future Games Show, the studio announced Fellowship is entering early access this October, and it's even getting an open beta ahead of time to give you a taste of what's to come.
The first ever Multiplayer Online Dungeon Adventure (MODA), Fellowship takes its gameplay beats not only from one of the best MMOs of all time in WoW, but also from some of the best MOBA games and ARPGs. It offers "endlessly scaling" dungeon diving for four-player teams, based on the MMO 'Holy Trinity,' so expect difficulty modifiers akin to Mythic+, alongside other new features to keep things fresh. Remember: the tougher the challenge, the better the loot. Considering the shiny stuff is the whole reason we farm this content type in the first place, I have high expectations - we were impressed enough when we went hands-on for our Fellowship preview last year.
The concept of streamlined dungeoning sounds great on paper, especially because you don't have to level up characters to get into the action. There's even a quick-play queue that will see you in and out of a dungeon in 15 minutes. Life can get extremely busy, so I'm all for more games respecting my time. Even if Fellowship can't 100% recreate the feel of Blizzard's dungeons, I can still see it being a fabulous way to keep your skills sharp in quick bursts. I peeped nameplates and DPS meters in the trailers, so you should feel right at home if you're making liberal use of our best WoW addons list.
Fellowship heads into Steam Early Access on October 9, 2025. You can get involved for $24.99 here.
Chief Rebel is expecting the game to stay in this state for around six months, though this may change depending on player feedback and how its development needs evolve. The studio plans to add purchasable cosmetics during this period, but don't worry, as new customization options based on player feedback are also coming that should be more wallet-friendly.
Ahead of early access, Chief Rebel is offering up the chance to take Fellowship for a free test drive. From September 18, 2025 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST until September 23, 2025 at the same time, the studio is running an open beta that, on top of introducing Mara to the roster of available heroes, will see the debut of Fellowship's new gameplay systems.
These include "a fresh take on matchmaking and group finding, and an engaging progression system including weapons, gems, talents, crafting, legendary items, and more." On top of this, new dungeon Urrak Markets is opening its doors, so don't be afraid to swing by and sample its wares.
