It's almost time for another Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 DLC - that's come around fast, eh? It feels like just last week Henry was getting embroiled with a tortured artist, and after all that drama, it might just be time to pursue a new hobby - interior design. Of course, in the new expansion, Legacy of the Forge, there will be a new storyline to play through. It'll see Henry learn about his late father and rebuild his burned down forge. But its big new feature is the ability to customize Henry's new workshop and private living quarters, with over 100 million decorative options. However, just like The Sims, some of the furnishings are going to provide gameplay-altering effects.

Warhorse continues to impress with Kingdom Come Deliverance 2's post-launch support. From updates that drop in new modes and missions, to its brilliant first DLC that added the addictive shield painting system, to now Legacy of the Forge. This second expansion to one of the best RPGs sees Henry return to Kuttenberg to repair and restart his father's old forge, and in the process he'll uncover some surprising secrets about his past. He'll also look to become a true master blacksmith by taking on jobs that will see him craft bespoke weaponry and armor pieces alongside some "quirky" requests, according to Warhorse.

While the narrative side of Legacy of the Forge and this new blacksmithing system sounds great, the house customization is what's caught my attention - just as the exquisite shield painting did in the last DLC. Damn you Warhorse, and your addictive side activities…

Promising over 136 million different combinations of customization options, this new housing system is surprisingly deep. Not only does it give Henry a personalized place to lay his weary head or toil away on his next blacksmithing project, but it will also alter gameplay in a way that Warhorse is being rather coy about right now. My best guess is that certain items will boost certain attributes for Henry, but we'll have to see on that front.

Sadly, unlike The Sims, there is no 'motherlode' cheat. At least, not without the inevitable mod that'll surely spring up. Henry has to work hard in the forge and sell his commissions for cash, which he can then spend on all the scatter cushions he so desires.

The best part is that, despite Legacy of the Forge just being revealed today at Gamescom Opening Night Live, it won't be long before it's in your hands.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2's Legacy of the Forge DLC arrives on Tuesday, September 9. You can wishlist it on Steam here.
