Legendary WW1 FPS series returns with "most authentic" battles and weaponry yet

Blackmill Games has made a name for itself by concentrating on a specific niche in the FPS genre. Rather than design games with the special abilities and nimble movement of Apex Legends or Call of Duty Warzone, the studio takes a more grounded approach, focusing on the battles of the First World War. After proving itself with games like Verdun, Tannenberg, and Isonzo, Blackmill has returned to announce its latest project, the squad-based FPS Gallipoli.

As its title suggests, Gallipoli is set during the Gallipoli campaign of the First World War. Following up on Blackmill's previous WW1 FPS games, it sees players taking part in multiplayer, squad-based combat based on historical events. On its Steam page, Gallipoli is described as providing Blackmill's "most authentic WW1 FPS battles yet." This certainly seems to be the case, with the game requiring players to learn how best to use the weaponry of the era, mastering the slower reload speeds and greater weight of the Ottoman and British guns of the time.

It also promises period accurate maps and uniforms; a variety of classes like Stretcher Bearer, Officer, and Light Machine Gunner; and a range of battlefields, like crumbling city streets, beaches, and stretches of desert. Given how few FPS games are set during the First World War, Blackmill's continued commitment to exploring the era is definitely welcome. As the fourth of the studio's WW1 games, Gallipoli should also be a more refined take on its approach to competitive shooting, too.
