Chinese manufacturer HKC has just launched the world's first 750Hz gaming monitor to the public. The 24.5-inch HKC Ant Esports ANT257PF is the first monitor to offer 750Hz at a 1080p resolution, with the name making it clear about the company's target market for this ultra-fast display.

HKC isn't a PC games hardware manufacturer that has much brand recognition outside of China, but the ANT257PF certainly looks like a display with specs to rival high-speed choices in our best gaming monitor guide. It's got a style and stand that looks reminiscent of an Asus ROG display, but it's that 750Hz refresh rate that's drawing attention.

HKC 750Hz gaming monitor on display

This HKC ANT257PF display features a TN panel which, as our TN vs VA vs IPS guide explains, is the best LCD panel type for the fastest response times. However, TN panels do come with some disadvantages, such as poor viewing angles. That's the price you'll be paying for a 750Hz refresh rate, and the HKC display's other specs are average, with 95% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, along with HDR 400 support and a maximum brightness of 400 nits.

If you want to take full advantage of a 750Hz monitor, however, you're going to need a GPU from our best graphics card guide that can output frames as quickly as the monitor's ability to refresh them. That's going to be a really tough ask, even on an RTX 5090.

You'll also need to play games where you can actually reach 750fps. Some first-person shooters, such as Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant, can poptentially hit those sorts of high figures with a good enough gaming PC, and we managed to hit an average of 760fps in Doom Eternal at 1080p in the tests for our RTX 5090 review, as long as you don't enable ray tracing, but you can see that it's hard to hit frame rates this high.

For the average gamer, however, 750Hz just isn't necessary. You might feel a step up from 60Hz to 144Hz, or from 144Hz to 240Hz, but a 750Hz gaming monitor is very far from an essential. The ANT257PF's 7,999 Yuan price tag, equating to around $1,100, also makes it an especially expensive option for 1080p gaming.

HKC hasn't made it clear if this display is set to see a wider release, but we'd be curious to give it a try ourselves if it reaches our shores.

Until then, make sure to check out this new 720Hz OLED gaming monitor from LG. That display comes with a much better OLED panel, although its 720Hz mode is only available while you're playing at 720p.
