Open-world space game StarRupture gets surprise delay after huge playtest

Starfield was a bit of a let-down, but I still think it has potential. Bethesda has been all quiet on the DLC front, but there are countless mods that make those empty planets more interesting. It's no surprise, then, that players are looking for a game that offers those same promises as Starfield, but actually delivers. And after a successful playtest earlier this month, space survival game StarRupture could be ready to step into those shoes. Developer Creepy Jar has now announced the early access release date for the game, as well as a bunch of stats to explain just how well the playtest went.

You're a prisoner, and your sentence is menial labor on a dangerous planet. Heard this one before? It may not be the most original narrative, but it's the perfect vehicle for StarRupture's resource gathering and factory building. Automate your systems solo or with up to three other players to protect yourself from terrifying threats both planet-bound and stellar.

StarRupture has now surpassed 500,000 wishlists on Steam, with over 150,000 players jumping into the game as a part of its last playtest. Creepy Jar also says that it received an impressive 91% positive feedback on the playtest. However, it takes a lot to become one of the best space games, so players will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the full early access release.

Creepy Jar says that it will "take community feedback, refine every detail, and deliver the StarRupture experience [its] audience deserves." Creating a more polished and improved experience is important—first impressions are everything, after all.

Originally planned to release in October this year, StarRupture's delay allows the devs to iron out any kinks and give everything a fresh coat of paint so it's looking spick and span, ready for thousands of players to serve out their sentences in early access.
