A beloved DBD mode is returning, but it's not going to waste your time anymore

A typical Dead By Daylight match is already packed with frenetic action, but things only get wilder when you unleash double the amount of Survivors and Killers into a map. The beloved DBD 2v8 mode is returning in a few days' time for its third instalment, but Behaviour Interactive has now confirmed it will be coming with a brilliant new feature that eases one of its biggest frustrations. To make sure that those queuing as a Killer won't be sat twiddling their thumbs, Behaviour is adding the ability to play a match as a Survivor while waiting for your chance to slay.

Update 9.1.2 has just hit Dead By Daylight, and it does plenty to straighten the horror game out. The Blood Rush perk has been re-enabled after getting Kill Switched earlier this month, the Fog Vial has been rebalanced to have a maximum of two charges, and there are dozens of bug fixes - my personal favorite is the one that turns down the volume of Michonne Grimes' running grunts. Every detail matters in a game like DBD.

However, the patch notes also feature a bunch of changes that are coming to 2v8 ahead of the limited-time mode's return next week. I'll dive into the gameplay tweaks shortly, but I first want to highlight the fact that you'll be able to play a match as a Survivor while waiting for those typically lengthy Killer queue times. Knowing that things can be even worse when queuing up with a friend to be a terrible twosome, Behaviour will let both of you matchmake into the same Survivors game while you wait. This is a great bit of news, and means less time sitting in menus and more time playing.

Some balance changes are also afoot for 2v8's return. The mode's bespoke Shadow and Escapist classes both get some positive tweaks, and there's a sizable rework of The Legion's innate skills. The Guide skill known by all Survivors is also getting an overhaul - the biggest change is that you can now set temporary traps on generators that will trigger if a Killer attempts to damage one.

Three new maps are also being added to the pool - Treatment Theatre, The Shattered Square, and Greenville Square. This is the third time 2v8 has appeared in DBD, and with these changes, it should be the best version of it yet. No more being bored out of your mind in Killer queues, huzzah!
