As a long-time Deep Rock Galactic veteran, I'm not surprised to see that the Abyssus system requirements demand very little of your gaming laptop or PC. Both games offer procedurally-generated roguelite experiences and a four-player co-op experience, but Abyssus brings an underwater twist and some Hades-style elements I can't wait to get stuck into.
Abyssus could well become one of the best co-op games on PC and dominate the next few weeks of my life if the full release lives up to the demo and the gameplay trailers. The combat has a very Doom-like vibe, but with all the customization options I came to love in Deep Rock Galactic. However, time will tell if Abyssus can rise to the surface among a sea of other co-op roguelites, or sink to the abyss in obscurity, especially as you'll need a fairly decent if not the best gaming CPU you can afford from our buying guides to play the game at its best.
Here are the Abyssus system requirements for PC:
Minimum (Low, 1080p, 30fps) | Recommended (High, 1080p, 60fps) | |
OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 10 64-bit |
GPU | Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti AMD Radeon R7 360 |
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Super AMD Radeon RX 5600 |
VRAM | 2GB | 4GB (Nvidia), 6GB (AMD) |
CPU | Intel Core i7 8700K AMD Ryzen 5 1600X |
Intel Core i7 11700K AMD Ryzen 7 3700X |
RAM | 8GB | 8GB |
Storage | 10GB | 10GB |
The Abyssus minimum requirements are incredibly inviting, only demanding an Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti or AMD Radeon R7 360 GPU, paired with an Intel Core i7 8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X CPU, and 8GB of RAM.
Judging from these specs, your CPU will be a much more important factor than your GPU when it comes to getting good performance out of the game. Fortunately, the developer has stated that the minimum requirements will achieve 30fps at a native 1080p resolution on the "Low" graphics preset.
If, however, you want to raid ancient civilizations on the "High" preset, the Abyssus recommended specs demand an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5600 GPU, an Intel Core i7 11700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, and 8GB of RAM. According to the developer, this will get the game running at 1080p with 60fps.
For now, the Abyssus download size is 10GB of storage space, which is practically nothing in the face of modern AAA games and their storage demands. However, it's worth noting that Abyssus' size could grow as more content is added. We can only hope that, much like the Deep Rock Galactic system requirements, the Abyssus size remains low throughout its lifetime.
We also recommend installing the game onto an SSD, though the developer doesn't specifically call for one. This will ensure you're getting the best loading times. If you're in need of more space or an upgrade, make sure to check out our best gaming SSD buying guide.
