But without proper prep, you'll feel the burn whenever you try to grab it. Here's where to find the Heatwave staff and how to survive its red-hot wrath before you cook yourself on a fool's errand.

Given you'll need a Grade II Omni-Hammer to bust your way into where the Heatwave weapon is hiding, you may need to reconsider your journey. Other free Grounded 2 weapons, like the Gloom Skewer and Bushwacker, can be obtained as soon as you have your first buggy.

Retrieving the Heatwave weapon means heading into the Fire Pit, a dangerously hot area that you won't survive in normal circumstances. You'll need to prepare your equipment before heading into this area, in particular the Grade II Omni-Hammer, Sizzle reduction gear, and smoothies.

To craft a full set of Sizzling gear, you'll need Spicy Shards, Bombardier parts, and Lingonberry Leather. A full set likely isn't enough to stop your character from melting the second you grab the Heatwave, so pack some appropriate smoothies to cool you down. Mintito reduces sizzling, while the regen effect of the Hedge Lord drink might keep you alive.

While not required, it's also worth taking a buggy to drive through the area, along with some bandages and other healing items. Finally, you could benefit from tall structure materials like a Workshop to gain some added height.

Reaching the Fire Pit

Once you're ready to feel the burn, head over to the southeast corner of the Fire Pit. This side has a high opening that's just low enough for your buggy to hop through. If you require a leg up, build a Workshop on the closest corner of the concrete, giving you enough extra height to make the jump on foot.

Your buggy will leave the moment you drop from the ledge as the environment is too hot for it to survive. You won't get hit with the rapidly accumulating Sizzle effect until you take a few more steps, so take this time to equip your armor and chug a smoothie. The Heatwave is a short walk away, but you'll have to deal with an obstacle while you're burning up. Consider crafting a lean-to on the concrete or by the Fire Pit Ranger Station to set a handy respawn point.

Surviving the Fire Pit

You have two choices from this point: walk through the smoldering ground to the right of the plank, or walk along it and drop from the notch on the right side to the top of the corpse.

If you choose to walk the fiery path, just slip under the branch, hug the left, and run ahead. As the path narrows, break either of the two charcoal pieces on your right. Inside is the Heatwave weapon. Grab it and head for the exit, this time climbing the wood. Hop onto the branch on your left and follow it out of the larger Fire Pit hole.

Is the Heatwave in Grounded 2 good?

The Heatwave Scorching Orb weapon is fantastic as it's capable of dealing AoE damage which allows you to take on multiple enemies at once. In addition to this, it applies Sizzling with each hit, dealing powerful damage over time. Its charged attack continues to scorch targets that stand in its AoE, too.

Furthermore, the Finale Warmth passive lets the Heatwave's residual attacks reduce your accumulation of Chilling. With friendly fire enabled, it could become an effective way to traverse the Ice Cream Cart or take on Blue Butterflies.
