When it comes to entry-level specs, the Cronos The New Dawn system requirements won't require a powerful gaming laptop or PC from the apocalyptic future of the game's setting. However, you will start to require some pretty modern hardware if you want to run this game at its best, even at 1080p.

While Cronos The New Dawn doesn't quite call for the best gaming CPU or the best gaming GPU from our comprehensive buying guides, it does demand some fairly decent hardware from recent years if you want to experience The Change and its ensuing devastation as the developer intended. What is odd, however, is that the developer hasn't released any performance expectations for its required hardware but has strongly implied that the minimum requirements won't run the game at 1080p.

While the Cronos The New Dawn minimum requirements are fairly low, requiring only an Intel Core i5 8400F or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU paired with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT and 16GB of RAM, it seems this isn't enough to run the game at 1080p.

The Cronos The New Dawn recommended specs call for 16GB of RAM, an Intel Core i7-10700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X CPU, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT GPU, which, apparently, "allows for gameplay in 1080p."

This strongly hints that the game only runs at 720p on the minimum requirements, and also makes me suspect that Cronos The New Dawn may utilize DLSS or FSR upscaling if indeed an RTX 3080 is required just to run the game at 1080p. It's also worth taking into account that the game's developer, Bloober Team SA, was also the developer of the Silent Hill 2 remake that required upscaling in its recommended specs.

Of course, we won't know how well Bloober's latest game has been optimized until we arrive at the Cronos The New Dawn release date. Let's just hope that Cronos The New Dawn is better optimized than the Silent Hill 2 remake, as, for some reason, Silent Hill 2 rendered distant buildings in high detail despite completely obscuring them in its signature fog (as you'll see if you use a Silent Hill 2 mod such as Sunny Hills).

The Cronos The New Dawn download size is 50GB of storage space. The developer has not mentioned the use of an SSD at either the minimum or recommended specs, but we'd still recommend installing the game onto the best gaming SSD in your budget, especially if you're still using a traditional hard disk drive.

As Cronos The New Dawn is a Resident Evil-like horror game, you'll want to make the most of the game's soundtrack and every audio cue present in either the past or the future of the game's setting.
