New Assassin's Creed crossover lands in free-to-play fantasy game Reverse 1999

I didn't realize how much I needed anime versions of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Kassandra, and Alexios from the Assassin's Creed series until now, but fantasy RPG Reverse: 1999 has given them to me anyway. The gorgeous free-to-play game has teamed up with the Ubisoft series to bring three of its most recognizable and beloved faces to the table, and you can even claim one of them simply by playing.

If you've yet to try Reverse: 1999, it's available as a free Steam game, so the barrier to entry is very low, whether you're an Assassin's Creed fan eager to check out the new collaboration or simply on the hunt for something new. It might not have the caché of its bigger-name gacha rivals such as Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, but Reverse's 93% Steam review score and the praise for its beautiful world, personal storytelling, and monetization that feels free-to-play friendly puts it among the best fantasy games of its type.

The new event features three iconic faces. Assassin's Creed 2's Ezio and AC Odyssey's Kassandra are both six-star characters, and you can unlock each of them through their respective gacha banners. Kassandra's counterpart, Alexios, is a five-star that you'll be able to claim for free simply by logging in and completing main story quests.

There are two collaboration stories to enjoy as part of the event. 'La Primavera di Firenze' is Ezio's tale, studying "the contradiction between freedom and order" on the streets of Florence. 'Drama in Athens,' meanwhile, leans on the world of Assassin's Creed Odyssey, where "an Eagle Bearer accepts an unusual commission" and the Spear of Leonidas will once again clash against the Sword of Damokles.
