Delta Force mid-season patch adds new firearm and a Norwegian DJ

When it comes to keeping things fresh, you can't say that Delta Force isn't trying. The free-to-play shooter is going out on a limb with its latest mid-season update. The patch not only adds a brand new firearm—standard fare for a live-service FPS game—but also a collaboration with a niche Norwegian DJ. I'm not sure what it is about those Scandinavians that makes them so good at manipulating the turntables, but soon enough Alan Walker will be strutting his stuff in your multiplayer matches as well as on the decks.

A lot of the best FPS games are embracing the Fortnite model of crossovers now. None come close to the battle royale's melting pot of IP, where Darth Vader can fight Goku, only to be third partied by John Cena. But that's not to say they're not controversial. Call of Duty's recent Beavis and Butthead skins caused uproar in the community, despite the lauded appearance of Godzilla last year.

Still, Delta Force has chosen this route, and picked an interesting collaborator. Norwegian DJ Alan Walker will appear in the game once the mid-season patch goes live. An event will feature treasure maps that reward armament vouchers, firearm cosmetics themed on the DJ, and more.

Aside from Walker, who has 27 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Delta Force's mid-season patch is bringing a brand new firearm to the game. The KC 17 looks like an assault rifle to my untrained eye, but you'll have to log into the game to find out for sure.

Finally, Delta Force is arriving on consoles on August 19. Players who join a match from their console rather than their PC will be rewarded with exclusive cosmetics. Is that worth buying a whole PlayStation for? That's for you to decide, but completionists must be crying into their wallets right now.
