New ROG Xbox Ally handheld could launch in just a few weeks, suggests leak

The Xbox handheld is reportedly set to come out in just a few months. That's according to a new rumor, which suggests that both Asus ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X handhelds will go on sale on October 16, with the date apparently set to be confirmed by Microsoft at Gamescom on August 20.

We've already reported on a recent Xbox handheld pre-order rumor, from the same source, which suggests pre-orders are set to go live on the same day as the Gamescom announcement by Microsoft. That would leave eight weeks for gamers before they get their hands on this new Asus device, which we're expecting to compete with the models already in our best handheld guide.

This rumor comes from Dealabs Magazine which reports, via its own sources, that the two Xbox handhelds will reportedly be released on October 16, 2025 across major retailers in European countries.

While Dealabs mentions Europe specifically, we'd expect Microsoft to launch the new Xbox handhelds simultaneously across other regions on the same date, including in the US, based on its launch strategy for recent Xbox launches.

That date is still unconfirmed, however. Microsoft is unlikely to confirm any details ahead of its Gamescom live event on August 20, which the company has already confirmed will take place.

With any luck, we'll all be getting our hands on a ROG Xbox Ally in October, just ahead of the holiday season. Price details haven't been confirmed yet, either, but leaked ROG Xbox Ally pricing suggests that it could range from €599 / ~$700 for the base model ROG Xbox Ally to €899 / ~$1,050 for the ROG Xbox Ally X.
