Titan Quest 2 roadmap plots out early access updates for the Greek fantasy ARPG

If the live-service seasons of Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2 are proving a little overwhelming, perhaps it's time for a nice ARPG vacation. Titan Quest 2 has just landed in early access, and so far developer Grimlore Games has been very happy with the response. Despite offering a relatively short taste of its campaign, there's a lot to love about the long-awaited sequel, which currently boasts an 85% positive Steam review score from over 7,500 user responses. Now, Grimlore has laid out its first Titan Quest 2 roadmap, promising new features including a character creator.

The new roadmap is Grimlore's way "to ensure Titan Quest 2 stays on course after its overwhelmingly successful early access launch." I've been dipping into the long-awaited sequel and watching others do the same, and the general consensus is that it could well find its place among the best games like Diablo once it's fully finished. Rather than having constant seasonal refreshes, Titan Quest 2, like its precursor, feels poised to be the type of ARPG you'll come back to purely on the strength of its combat, build variety, and campaign.

"Major content updates are planned roughly every three months," Grimlore states. "While not every update will include all types of content, they may feature additions such as new masteries, chapters, a character creator, new gameplay systems, and other improvements." Between these you can expect some smaller patches, which might still include new, improved, or revamped gameplay mechanics, along with additional languages and localization. There will also be hotfixes, bug fixing, and balancing "where necessary."

The developer says it believes in the value of early access because "The ARPG genre is very crowded, so we think this type of iteration is necessary to give you the best possible experience." A character creator is high on the priority list and should arrive in "one of the first major early-access updates." Co-op, which is currently available in a preview form, will be gradually iterated to deliver "a comprehensive, vastly improved multiplayer experience with the 1.0 release.

While Grimlore hasn't yet settled on the final number of masteries for 1.0, it says it's anticipating "at least six," with the potential for more to come through DLC or expansions. Rather than focusing on quantity, it says it wants "masteries to be more versatile and impactful than in the original Titan Quest," which is a sentiment I can support. Finally, it mentions that the team is "working on endgame designs internally," but is currently putting its primary attention on "creating a polished and replayable campaign."

Grimlore also reminds players that while Titan Quest 2 is currently available for $29.99 / 24.99, the price will be increasing to $49.99 (and regional equivalents) when it reaches version 1.0. It's currently targeting that for the end of 2026, although the schedule may shift as early access continues. The studio says it "will NOT do microtransactions and or loot box shenanigans," but is planning to release DLC and expansion packs in the future.
