I would absolutely love a new Dino Crisis game, or a remake. As an enthusiastic Monster Hunter player, I can even assure series creator Shinji Mikami that I have room in my heart for both, despite his claims that the latter's popularity leaves little room for a Dino Crisis reboot. Capcom, on the other hand, seems to believe that people are still interested in the series, and appears to be testing the waters once more with a new set of limited-time merchandise, available via the Cap Kuji store.
Capcom has clearly had a new Dino Crisis project on its mind since at least 2023, when a survey asked players if they still had affection for the classic dinosaur games. We even saw the series make its return at the start of 2025, when Dino Crisis 1 and 2 made their return to GOG (leaving the much-maligned third game quietly in a corner). Now, it's got a fresh collection of Dino Crisis memorabilia up for grabs.
The new Dino Crisis merch event (spotted by Resetera), which runs from Friday August 8 until Friday September 12, features a range of different gear. There's a sweater with the classic Dino Crisis cover art on it, three large desk mats (yes, even including one for Dino Crisis 3), and a pair of pouches based on the game's recovery items. Then there are six acrylic-stand figures of the protagonists, five keychains with weapon and item models on them, and eight stylish dinosaur stickers.
Rather than selling the items directly, the event operates through a gacha-style lottery system, with one purchase costing 880 Yen (about $6) and ten for 7,920 Yen (just under $54), plus delivery costs. There's a one-in-100 chance you'll snag the sweater, for example, while you'll find yourself holding a dinosaur sticker in 48 out of 100 purchases. I am rather taken by the medkit pouches, I will admit.
Naturally, the whole project has remake-wanting fans like myself in a minor frenzy once more. There's absolutely no indication that new merchandise on sale could mean anything more is coming. But that won't stop me from clinging onto the tiniest sliver of hope in my heart, even if I'm not holding my breath alongside it. Maybe, just maybe, a full Dino Crisis remake, or even a sequel, will one day be real.
