Skate map - all locations and our wishlist

What does the Skate map look like? A skater is nothing without a playground filled with ramps and rails to mess around with, and that's why you need to get a closer look at the neighborhoods that make up San Vansterdam. Whether you're a vert or street type of skater, it helps to know what each neighborhood has in store for you.

The long wait for a brand-new Skate game is almost over, at least it will be when the skateboard game launches into early access in August. There's still some time until the proper Skate 4 release date, but until then, let's take a closer look at the Skate map to discover what the devs have been cooking up after all these years.

San Vansterdam locations

Skate takes place in the fictional city of San Vansterdam, an ever-evolving city that currently consists of four distinct neighborhoods. M-Corp, the organization that controls the city, is planning on making some considerable changes to the city, so stay tuned as there could be some interesting developments over the coming months.

Unlike previous games in the series, San Vansterdam has been designed with verticality in mind, and that is made clear with the new mechanic that allows you to climb structures. Now you're able to get off your board and vault over things like gates, walls, and fences with ease. You're also able to scale buildings, providing you with access to rooftops around the city.

Here are the neighborhoods in San Vansterdam:

• Brickswich
• Gullcrest Village
• Hedgemont
• Market Mile

Brickswich

Home to the San Vansterdam Land Sharks, Brickswich is where you can find the city's stadium. This location is known for its tall buildings which feature empty pools and quarter pipes once you reach the rooftops.

If you happen to be skating in the sunlight in one of the skateparks on the ground, be sure to keep an eye on the sky as the rooftops contain ramps that you can use to fly across the towers. As you can imagine, this adds a much greater element of danger if you miss your landing, but it'll be all the more impressive if you manage to make the gap.

Gullcrest Village

Atone for your skateboarding sins in Gullcrest Village by visiting the Rolling Reverence church, boasting a full skate park hidden inside the holy walls. The light breaking through the stained glass windows provides the perfect backdrop for you and your buddies to practice Christ Airs. Also featured in the neighborhood is a car park garage, complete with a mini-mega ramp on the roof that you can use to launch yourself across the sky.

Hedgemont

You begin your skate journey in Hedgemont, the largest neighborhood in San Vansterdam. This area serves as your primary hub when you first start out, stacked with shops, challenges, and missions to help you learn the ropes. There's a skate park underneath the massive bridge spanning the city that you can hit up, and when you're ready to move on, just head through the Skateway to travel to the other neighborhoods.

Market Mile

If you want to break your manual record, Market Mile is filled with elevated walkways, perfect for building momentum as you make your way down plenty of slopes. Street skaters will be pleased to see the community park located towards the south side of the neighborhood, and there's a traditional skatepark in the west if you want to hit up some ramps.

As San Vansterdam is an evolving city, there are some classic Skate locations that we hope make it to the game down the line. Ideally, we'd like to see all three of the maps in the Skate series in the latest entry, but that does seem slightly unrealistic. We've seen areas from San Vanelona and New San Vanelona (the fictional cities from Skate 1 and 2, respectively) be made available as DLC in Skate 3, so here's hoping the same thing can happen once again.

• Art Gallery (Skate 1)
• Old Town (Skate 2)
• Mega Park (Skate 3)

Art Gallery

One of the most iconic locations in Skate 1, the Art Gallery is an inspirational area for skaters. Not only does it feature several unique art pieces to tear up, but there's a good chance you missed out on several hidden areas in the original games, rewarding players for going outside the main areas. This classic location would greatly benefit from the climbing mechanic in the new game, making it much easier for players to get to hard-to-reach spots.

Old Town

You will struggle to find any other location in Skate that packs as much as Old Town does in such a small space. This vibrant region is a paradise for street skaters, filled with various rails to test your grinding abilities. And yes, we know this level was originally in Skate 1, but the Skate 2 version looks so much better to our eyes, so that's the one we're going with.

Mega Park

Arguably the most legendary location in the entire series, the Mega Park makes it easy to build up massive amounts of momentum which you can use to obtain an obscene score. Skate is known for its realistic approach to the sport, but the Mega Park throws all of that out the window and lets you soar through the air like a majestic eagle. There's a reason why players flock to this map in Skate 3; there's no other place where you can bust a move like you can in the Mega Park.
