Another year, another Call of Duty, another season of Warzone. For years it feels like Activision's FPS has ruled the online multiplayer roost; even when its campaigns have faltered and reviews have tanked, it's managed to outlast all of its competitors. But this year, for the first time in what feels like forever, it has a real challenger. Battlefield 6 looks good, sounds good, and, by all accounts, plays pretty good, too. Perhaps this is the return to form that we've been waiting for post-2042, but you'll be able to make up your own mind very, very soon. The Battlefield 6 beta is looming, but we're giving away 40 codes for EA's new shooter so that you can try out the closed test ahead of your pals.
As Sam's Battlefield 6 preview says, EA's upcoming shooter "is the gritty, challenging, all-out warfare FPS game that we need right now." Reminiscent of Battlefield 3 and 4, it's ditching the futuristic sci-fi themes of 2042, in turn attempting to present a more grounded wartime experience than Call of Duty and Warzone. No Nicki Minaj versus Diablo 4's Lilith here: just bare bones, good ol' fashioned head popping.
But the Battlefield 6 release date really isn't all that far away. As is now relatively common for big triple-A videogames, EA is hosting a Battlefield 6 beta weekend from Thursday August 6 to Sunday August 10. While the latter half of the test is open to everyone, if you're looking to get involved on either Thursday or Friday, you'll need an early access code.
And that's where we come in. Ahead of Battlefield 6's beta, EA has given us 40 early access codes, which we're handing out ahead of time. All you'll need to do is enter your details into the box below. Note that this giveaway ends at 4am PST / 7am EST / 12pm BST / 1pm CEST on Thursday August 7, meaning we'll be able to send your code across shortly after the beta's launch.
If you win, you'll need to head over to EA's official website to redeem the code, linked here. You'll then be required to download the beta client on your platform of choice when the beta becomes available - that first part is important, make sure you choose the right platform.
