We all love free stuff. Gaming is getting more and more expensive with every passing year, so we leap on any whisper of a free game on the Epic Games Store, or a bunch of cool demos at Steam Next Fest. The Elder Scrolls Online is the latest game to offer a freebie, with a free trial for its premium membership available for the first half of August. If you're a diehard Skyrim fan looking for more Daedric lore, or just want to explore more of this brilliant fantasy world, now is the best time to jump in.

An ESO Plus membership offers countless benefits, not least access to over 30 pieces of DLC, which include new zones, quests, and dungeons. You also gain a bunch of bag space, unlimited storage for crafting materials, double the space in your bank, and twice as much space for storing furnishings in your house.

The Elder Scrolls Online is considered one of the best MMORPGs around, so it's well worth checking out its fanciest offerings. The new zones are a standout feature you'll want to explore in full before the trial expires, but the other quality of life updates aren't to be sniffed at, either.

However, there are a couple of ESO Plus benefits that you don't get access to with the free trial. You don't get the crowns stipend granting you premium currency, or the new companions introduced in the Blackwood, High Isle, or Necrom chapters.

fiery man on a fiery horse rides through a dungeon that's also on fire as enemies flee in the elder scrolls online.

Sign up to a free trial of ESO Plus and receive all these benefits until Tuesday, August 12. If you don't already own the game, The Elder Scrolls Online is also on sale at 75% off—costing just $4.99 /£3.99— on Steam during the same period. Just make sure you cancel before August 12, or else you'll be charged $14.99 / £9.99 for the next month.

If your free trial is over and you fancy more ESO-style goodness, check out some of the best fantasy games on PC or the best single-player MMOs. There's plenty of options there to whet your whistle.
