A universe steeped in dark lore, demonic enemies, and well over 25 years of storylines told through some exceptional videogames, Diablo seems like a more than suitable candidate for a tabletop RPG. All the way back in 2023 at BlizzCon (remember that old thing?) a Diablo TTRPG was finally announced, with Glass Cannon Unplugged at the reins. However, next to nothing has been said about it since. Finally, Diablo The Roleplaying Game has resurfaced, announcing that a Kickstarter campaign is on the way, revealing some early details, and flaunting an impressive cast of writers and designers.

If you're unaware of Glass Cannon Unplugged's work, the company is a whizz at transforming some of the best PC games into board games and TTRPGs. The likes of Dying Light, Apex Legends, and Frostpunk have all received this treatment so far, and soon it'll be Diablo's turn with Diablo The Roleplaying game. Other than the fact it exists, not much was said about it during that BlizzCon reveal almost two years ago. Now we know a whole lot more thanks to its shiny new Kickstarter page.

"The massive Core Rulebook offers over 300 pages of original game rules, rich lore, and breathtaking art," Glass Cannon pledges. It also comes with "an anthology of one-shot adventures" featuring writing talent that's worked on the Diablo games, Lord of the Rings, Warhammer, and more.

The Kickstarter also confirms that it'll be propelled by a custom d6 dice pool system that has been created by notable head honcho Joe LaFavi and several other talented TTRPG wizards.

Diablo The Roleplaying Game is also priding itself on thrusting players straight into the action as an adept demon slayer without any time-consuming build-up to reaching high levels of power. "No inexperienced and squishy 1st levels here," Glass Cannon says. "Begin your adventure fully equipped as a seasoned hero ready to live the epic-level dream of TTRPGs from session zero."

As you'd hope and expect, classic Diablo classes will feature here, with Barbarians, Druids, Necromancers, Rogues, and Sorcerers all named so far (that's the same core quintet that Diablo 4 offered players before the addition of the Spiritborn in Vessel of Hatred). You'll also "harness awesome powers, plunge into dungeons, and revel in legendary gear, gold, and glory." Sounds wonderful.

Diablo The Roleplaying Game is aiming to launch in Q4 of this year. The Kickstarter hasn't officially gone live yet, but you can be notified when it does by following its page here.
