Stellar Blade only released on PC two months ago, but developer Shift Up Corporation has already provided numerous updates to keep the game running smoothly. Early this morning, Shift Up released Stellar Blade update 1.3.0, which fixes various minor issues with the hit action game. However, it's not gone smoothly, as many players are complaining that they can no longer launch the game. While we expect a hotfix or subsequent update shortly in order to fix this, players are being recommended to uninstall mods in order to access the game.

For those who can launch the game, the Stellar Blade update fixes a few minor issues. Eve sometimes lost her hair while wearing the game's two teddy bear skins, Fluffy Bear and Pink Bear. Thankfully, she no longer has bear-pattern baldness in the final scenes of the game.

Photo mode has also been improved, as well as numerous niche scenarios involving progress bars, the FSR upscaler, and invisible weapons. However, the update has caused more issues than it has fixed for some players, as some are unable to launch Stellar Blade, which is considered one of the best action games in recent years.

"I cannot start the game," complains one player on the Steam forum. A developer who goes by the tag 'Wolfcastle' has responded to the post, suggesting that players "try completely uninstalling UE4SS and all mod files as there may be incompatabilities [sic] with the update." However, another player has had no luck even after removing their mods.

Stellar Blade PC review: A woman with black hair, seen from behind, runs across a brick street toward a monster, Eve from Stellar Blade.

There seems to be an issue with the UE4SS files, which you can edit by going into your directory. While this is a short-term fix, we expect the Stellar Blade developer to deploy another patch or hotfix to address the issue before too long. If not, all those carefully-crafted mods that rely on UE4SS will be for naught.

If you can't launch Stellar Blade at the moment, why not try one of the other best soulslike games until Shift Up fixes the issue? Alternatively, plenty of the best RPG games should also tickle your pickle.
