New Fallout 76 update lets you irradiate yourself with gamma guns again

Try not to get irradiated. That's a piece of general life advice for you, free of charge. But those aren't always words of wisdom in Fallout 76. In Bethesda's online RPG, radiation poisoning can lead to desirable mutations which provide your character with buffs. It's not like that in the real world, so don't get any ideas. This is why players were bothered when the gamma gun stopped irradiating them, as it was one of the most consistent ways of guaranteeing yourself a roll on the old mutation roulette. Luckily, Bethesda has fixed that bug in the latest patch, as well as adding a slew of other updates.

That means that there's a chance they don't make it into the full game, but I'd wager that the bug fixes are a safe bet - provided nothing else breaks when they're implemented.

While the gamma gun bug fix will be received well by players not wanting to chug a case of Nuka Cola, other updates include tweaks to combat and mods, as well as removing Super Mutants' immunity to poison damage. It's still not a great idea to try to beat a group of them with a bow and arrow, but if you're persistent enough you'll get there eventually.

Anyone who has put time into prettying up their perfect base will also be happy, as Bethesda has implemented a 'replace mode' for switching out items, as well as fixing bugs with visual indicators and saved layouts. The workshop should be smoother and more consistent as a result.
