Against The Storm gets huge discount as free content update and DLC arrive

Against The Storm is one of those must-play strategy games that's been sitting on my wishlist for some time. If I wasn't already a sucker for dark fantasy worlds, the fact that it asks you to balance leading the survivors of an apocalypse and managing several different fantasy settlements would be enough to hook me in. Now, with the launch of its new free content update and DLC, there really couldn't be a better time to pick it up. And in even better news, the base game is currently an absolute steal at 50% off.

Against The Storm has continued to bolster its position on our best strategy games list since it left early access, and with a 95% positive rating on Steam it's clear that other players agree with us wholeheartedly. That's without even considering the recent release of extra free content for players and the new DLC, Nightwatchers.

One of Hooded Horse's top games, the strategy game blends city builder and roguelike elements with a twist: instead of managing one single city and its expansion, you oversee the growth and prosperity of a network of settlements, packed full of different fantasy races with their own needs and specializations. Building a village full of Beavers that require biscuits to thrive, sign me up.

For those who already own the game, the latest free content has arrived to expand the already existing experience. Against the Storm 1.8 not only introduces another convenient way to meet the aforementioned villager needs, but also adds more long-term progression upgrades, additional quality-of-life options, and several changes that are meant to complement the arrival of Bat people from the Nightwatchers DLC.

It also brings the inclusion of The Commons, a shared space for your villagers that can be unlocked from your town's main Hearth and allows them to fulfill service needs. And that's not even mentioning the new ability to purchase additional blueprint and cornerstone slots in Prestige games.

The Bat people are not the only inclusion set to arrive in Nightwatchers; players will also be able to access two more biomes, new buildings, fresh deeds, extra world events, and more.
