In my continuing battle to find entertaining MMOs to play with my professional and casual gamer pals, I've been thinking a lot about Elder Scrolls Online recently. Quite rightly so, given that the MMO has held up decently against competitors like Final Fantasy 14 and World of Warcraft. And now it looks like it's set to become even better, if the new August roadmap is anything to go by.

In its quest to continue to be one of the best MMOs, The Elder Scrolls Online has revealed the new updates and events for this coming month, including free items, crafting stations, death matches, and not one, but two new dungeons.

It's a hefty amount of content set to drop inside of one month, which is incredibly exciting for players like me who are looking for even more new adventures. While the potential to win a free in-game pet by watching the Dallas Pets Alive special charity livestream is certainly intriguing, it's the Feast of Shadows and Update 47 that have piqued my interest.

As revealed as part of their 2025 plans earlier this year, the Feast of Shadows PvE dungeon pack introduces two new challenges for players to conquer, each with their own stories and in-game rewards. The dungeons will also tie thematically into the ongoing Seasons of the Worm Cult saga.

It'll arrive alongside the fresh base game patch, Update 47, that's set to add the much-requested Mount Swimming functionality (the ability to stay on your mount while in water), Stackable Survey Reports, quest dialog becoming replayable, and so much more.

It's worth noting that while Update 47 will be available as part of the base game, but Feast of Shadows will only be available to players with the 2025 Premium Edition, an ESO Plus membership, or a 2025 Content Pass. Luckily for you, the Elder Scrolls Online 2025 Content Pass is currently 20% off, at $39.99 / £34.39.

Feast of Shadows and Update 47 will launch on August 18. You can read all about the new roadmap here.

In the meantime, there are plenty of single-player MMOs calling for adventurers right now. Or if you'd prefer to wait for the next chapter of Bethesda's classic fantasy saga, you can read our guide to the Elder Scrolls 6 release date to get up to date on the latest news.
