It's been two years now since Baldur's Gate 3 fully launched in all its turn-based, fantasy rich RPG glory, and I'm still obsessed. By this point, I've taken both the high road and the low road through the game and just about every road in-between, tried out several different builds, and romanced - well, if not everyone, then almost everyone. There's no doubt in my mind, however, that playing as the Dark Urge offers the most fun, even when they start talking about their 'father' in Act One even although they definitely should have no recollection of who that is. Luckily, the latest hotfix should fix that little spoiler, amongst other tweaks and improvements.
Patch 8 may have been the last major update for one of the best turn-based RPGs in existence, but Larian is continuing to fix some of Baldur's Gate 3's most persistent bugs. The new hotfix aims to address a good portion of them, including everything from game crashes to UI tweaks.
Most importantly, our favorite bha…erm, excuse me, amnesiac now refrains from spilling all their secrets and ruining the mystery surrounding their lost memories too early in the game through their overhead dialogue.
But it's good news for modders, too. For those of you who have been having ongoing issues with publishing larger mods, the timeout has now been increased, which should hopefully stop the 'A task was cancelled' error. You can now also scroll much faster on the Mod Details page of the Mod Browser while using a controller.
That's not all, cursed character portraits should now also be fixed - hopefully, the Shadow Curse should no longer repeatedly batter druids using Starry Force as their only light source, as well as a fixed lag that popped up while navigating the radial menu with a controller.
It's quite a lot of fixes for the game, and you can find the full notes on the fixes here.
The hotfix comes months after Patch 8 arrived for Baldur's Gate 3. The free content update came with 12 new subclasses and access to new spells, cantrips, and abilities to change the tide of battle. Larian has confirmed that it would be the last major game update for the title, as it heads into development on its next game.
