Dune Awakening has had a pretty good run so far since launching in June. Despite a slightly more bumpy road in recent weeks, the reviews for the MMO are still sitting at 'mostly positive,' with a 75% rating from Steam users. But the upcoming patch is set to shake some things up, adding new content, balancing, and tweaks, including a bug fix that might collapse your Pentashield. That's not all; you can test out the new patch for yourself right now.

As it continues its battle to make it amongst the best MMOs available, Dune Awakening developer Funcom has been addressing several bugs and concerns from the community. It recently disabled Family Sharing on Steam, after players were left frustrated over a number of cheats and exploits ruining their experience in-game.

Today, Funcom confirmes that the upcoming patch 1.1.20 set to arrive in August will be fixing even more bugs; crucially, this newest change will stop players from building Pentashields without proper support.

So what does this mean? Well, players who have built unsupported Pentashields, i.e. those unattached to the walls and instead to one another, risk them collapsing once the patch comes into effect - and losing their base as a result.

It's only one of the tweaks and improvements expected in 1.1.20, with a new Sandbike variant and a new set of Desert Mechanic Decorations up for grabs from the vehicle vendor, the inclusion of the ability to place pillars between walls, and a fixed typo on the Slaver Stillsuit Golves - sorry, Slaver Stillsuit Gloves. Oh, and if you try to run into a sandworm during any of its animations, you'll die. Or at the very least your vehicle will be destroyed.

The patch isn't expected to drop for another couple of weeks, but you can try it out in the Dune: Awakening Public Test Client on Steam right now. Even better, those who take part will get a top-tier buggy, a Scout Ornithopter, Assault Ornithopter, and a Carrier Ornithopter for their troubles.
