Where are the best Grounded 2 base locations? When it comes to survival games, kitting yourself out with the best armor, tools, and weapons is naturally a top priority. You should never underestimate the importance of a good base location, though, especially in Grounded 2. Place your lean-to too far away from important resources or too close to a spider's nest and you could be in big trouble.
Grounded 2 is a lot more intuitive than the first game, with less tool swapping, easier upgrades, and more handholding. It's also much, much bigger, which makes finding a safe place to lay your head for the night harder than ever. We've been busy exploring Brookhollow Park, looking for the best Grounded 2 base locations to give you a head start in the survival game sequel.
Where should you build your base in Grounded 2?
Be sure to scan your surroundings for web sacs, spiderwebs, and other obvious signs of life. Ensuring you're far enough away from bug nests is as crucial as being near precious resources. Try to find somewhere off the ground; a flat surface is also useful for building a full base. Once you've done that, consider where your most important locations and resources are. With Brookhollow Park being far bigger than Grounded's garden, you will likely want to move your base a few times as you progress through the story.
Best Grounded 2 early game base location
The best base location in Grounded 2 is located on the wooden platforms near the Billy Hog snackbar, just north of the starting area.
Not only is this base off the ground for additional protection from ground enemies, but it's also incredibly close to many major resources while being fairly central to quest locations. You're also close to a Resource Analyzer and Ranger Station here, as both can be found inside the Snackbar Ranger Outpost.
Being off the ground, you don't even need to build at first, and we survived days without any base building at all. After a while, though, it's nice to add a little more space and security, which is perfectly doable in this location, especially with all the grass and weeds at your disposal.
Best large Grounded 2 base location
If you want a bit more space to build upon, then you need a large, flat area - something that's hard to find in the dirt. The best early game location for this is on the table next to the snack bar, but you could also consider the top of the picnic table. The latter does move you a little further away from some resources, but there are also a lot more mid-game materials around this area, including Grounded 2 lingonberries and pine needles.
We also found a nice little spot that's similar to our starting base location, just larger and further into the park. This is less ideal for the start of the game, but may be better suited to your endgame endeavors. It's around the base of the lectern, which you also need to climb as part of the questline.
This is a very dangerous area thanks to nearby Grounded 2 scorpions and wolf spiders, so you don't want to rest up here too early on, but it's a great place to be once you're ready. You can even sit back and watch the two bug types fight each other, then gather some valuable loot in the aftermath.
As you get closer to completing the game's story, you might want to move a little nearer the Dr. Tully statue. For this, we love the stone path leading down from the statue. It's a lot more dangerous than other locations above, but it provides a large, flat, and aesthetically pleasing canvas to build on. We think it'd be especially cool to erect multiple buildings here for different uses, especially if you're playing with a full squad - almost like a teeny village.
The path does wind around more of the map, so you could set up camp further away to be in a less challenging area, but there's not really another spot that ticks as many boxes for resources, story, and aesthetic.
Cool Grounded 2 base locations
If you've got a little more building flair and don't need a flat surface, the coolest places to build can be around items lost in the park. Just look at this baseball Grounded base we spotted on Reddit, for example.
To build something similar in Grounded 2, there are balls and frisbees dotted around the park. However, we'd recommend doing something like this on one of the many juice boxes or soda cans lying around, since these give you a great way to hydrate once a day.
Perhaps our favorite pick for this would be the juice box on top of a skateboard, close to the center-top of the map. Not only does this look really cool and keep you safe from ground foes, but it's also a great endgame building location to boot, giving you the best of both worlds.
With the best base location secured in Grounded 2, you're more likely to make it through your next long trek through Brookhollow Park. Be sure to kit your base out with a Grounded 2 spinning wheel and a smithing table, so you can craft and upgrade the best Grounded 2 weapons and gear.
