Zombie sim Quarantine Zone reaches 1,000,000 Steam wishlists, gets new publisher

New zombie simulation game Quarantine Zone continues to make a name for itself. Set during the very fall of civilization, it brings together the undead peril of Project Zomboid, the infection risk bringing that essential tension to the likes of Dying Light and The Walking Dead, and the checkpoint management of Papers, Please. Spurred by a colossal new one-million Steam wishlist milestone, developer Brigada Games now announces that it's partnered with publisher Devolver Digital, and confirms a new release window.

"We come bearing great news," the Quarantine Zone developer writes in a new blog post. "We've crossed a massive milestone of one million wishlists, and more than one-and-a-half million players have played our demo since its launch in May 2025. We'd like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who's stayed with the project so far." Putting you in charge of the last blockade, it's up to you to inspect anyone who wishes to enter humanity's haven and determine whether it's safe to let them through. Fail in your duty, and you might doom what's left of society.

It's a classic blend of everything that makes the best zombie games tick, embraced into the more realistic, on-the-ground simulation game format that's so popular nowadays. You must manually search potential entrants, scan them with UV flashlights, test their temperature, and look for any signs of injury or infection. If you suspect there's a problem, you'll need to determine whether to send them to quarantine, or damn them to a more final fate at the hands of your guards. "Better dead than sorry," in Brigada's words.

You'll also need to manage the base and its supplies. Test kits and inspection tools will allow you to determine whether someone's cough is a normal illness or a sign of zombie pathogens. As your facility grows, you'll be able to establish daily routines, setting up morning reports and nighttime defenses to keep your checkpoint as secure as possible. It's a formula that's clearly appealing, as Quarantine Zone has now risen to number 24 on Steam's most-wishlisted games chart, putting it just two spots below Resident Evil Requiem.

In the wake of this news, Brigada also reveals that it has "reached an agreement with the amazing people (and absolute maniacs) from Devolver Digital to publish our game." The Hotline Miami and Inscryption studio is providing additional resources for development, and the ability "to reach as many potential players as possible," Brigada explains. With this extra support, the developer has decided to push the launch window from September back to November, "because we're going to be able to try some new things."

"While we understand that players would love to get their hands on the game and explore the Quarantine Zone as soon as possible, the additional time and the partnership with Devolver Digital allow us to focus our entire effort on further improving the game and plan even more content for after the initial release," the developer concludes.

Quarantine Zone is now set to release in November 2025. You can still play the demo on Steam if you want to get an early taste, or add it to your wishlist.
