Padma Lakshmi's First Rug Collection Has Something for Everybody—and It's Affordable, Too

You probably know Padma Lakshmi from Bravo's Top Chef and Hulu's Taste the Nation, the award-winning food shows she produces and hosts. But the multi-hyphenate just added another role to her busy career—home decor designer.

Lakshmi's first-ever rug collection with Rugs USA just launched, and it's got something for everybody—whether your preferred look is plush and creamy, tailored and neutral, or all about spice tones and global patterns.

A Travel-Inspired Line

Lakshmi says she designed the collection to reflect her travels and her love of a warm, comfortable home. "I travel a lot for my work. When I come home, it's my sanctuary where I seek solace and comfort," she says in a press release. "It is where I want people to feel nurtured. These rugs help create that warmth and welcome.”

The collection includes 17 styles, each in multiple colorways and sizes. Some of the rugs are machine washable, and some are available in multiple shapes, including rectangle, round, oval, and runners. Materials include hand-tufted wool, a wool-polyester blend, and jute. The machine-washable rugs are 100% polyester.

"I’m somebody who lives on the floor, so what’s under my feet really matters to me," Lakshmi says in a press release. Her favorites are the creamy white, textural Cloud rugs, which are machine washable yet simple and neutral enough to work in just about any room and with any decorating style.

But perhaps the best part about the collection is that the rugs are all quite affordable. Prices for a 5x8 rug top out at $230. These rugs deliver a lot of look for a reasonable amount of money.

Most of the rugs in Lakshmi's collection are packed with personality, involving multiple colors and large-scale patterns. There are Indian blockprint-inspired motifs, all-over florals with thick borders, abstract geometrics, and several more styles.
