Build A Rocket Boy has announced two new updates for its underwhelming and struggling action adventure game Mindseye, both of which are laden with bug fixes, performance improvements, and quality of life features. While this work is absolutely required to get the game into an acceptable condition, it comes at the expense of one of its most exciting pieces of post-launch content. Promised for July, Mindseye's crossover with Hitman has now been postponed, with BARB simply saying that the content will arrive "when the time is right."

With Hitman creators IO Interactive choosing Mindseye as its first third-party project to publish (a decision I reckon it might be regretting), a crossover with the iconic Agent 47 makes all the sense in the world. While the full details of the collab were never revealed, it would've seen the assassin feature in a mission within Mindseye's Redrock City. It was meant to be one of the earliest pieces of free content in the game's ambitious post-launch roadmap, and should've been in players' hands before the end of this month. However, the crossover with one of the best stealth games of all time has now been delayed, with no word on a new release date or window.

"We apologise that the release of the Hitman x MindsEye Mission, originally scheduled for July, has been postponed to a later date," BARB says in a new message to fans. "We look forward to delivering this exciting crossover when the time is right and will provide further updates as soon as we're able."

While several other new missions are set to be dropping for owners of both the standard edition of the game and those with its Premium Pass, BARB hasn't commented on whether they have also been pushed back.

Mindseye has received a flurry of post-launch patches in order to get it running better on people's PCs and consoles and squash its many, many bugs. However, BARB warns that things will be slowing down. There will be a big update in August which improves the state of the game, alongside adding the ability to skip cutscenes. Another will arrive in September. However, don't expect to see much else in between. "Moving forward, updates may be less frequent, but with the aim for each to bring more meaningful changes," the studio says.

Given that players bought the game expecting a slate of post-launch content (some even bought that additional Premium Pass too) BARB really has to deliver on what it promised, but it already appears that could be a tall order. I hope we do one day see the Hitman crossover mission arrive, but I wouldn't be all that surprised if it disappeared into the ether, either.
