Resurrected anime MMORPG Blue Protocol is back with a new beta

For me, half the fun of a good MMORPG is the ability to move between adventuring and relaxing. I love to fish just as much as I love to bash monsters, and, thankfully, Blue Protocol: Star Resonance looks set to tick all of those boxes, sending it straight to the top of my wishlist. With no confirmed release date, I thought I might be waiting a while to dive into Regnas, but luck appears to be on our side, as recruitment for a new closed beta has just kicked off.

Blue Protocol hasn't had the easiest time of it. You might remember that Bandai Namco Online and Amazon Games once planned to bring the MMORPG to the West, but the former opted to end service on the game before it ever got to travel overseas. Fortunately, for those excited to dive into the anime-inspired universe, Chinese developer Shanghai Bokura Network Technology later announced Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, a more action-focused version of Bandai's original IP.

Thank goodness for that, because this MMORPG looks like it's offering a fun, fantasy-filled romp, balancing epic battles with fishing with friends and farming.

In the latest trailer, we can see more of the world awaiting us, and the activities you'll be able to enjoy with friends; there's everything from dancing to decorating - and even hitting the beach.

It comes as Blue Protocol: Star Resonance announces that recruitment for its new closed beta has begun, and all adventurers are welcome. You better be quick if you don't want to miss out, as signups will only be open until August 14. You can find out more info about taking part here.

There's currently no release date for Blue Protocol Star Resonance, but it's expected to launch before the end of the year.
