Assassin's Creed Shadows will get its most requested new feature very soon

A new roadmap of content for Assassin's Creed Shadows has been revealed by Ubisoft, and it reveals that a major update is dropping in just a few days' time, bringing one of the most requested features to the RPG: New Game Plus. The roadmap also teases more changes and new features coming later in the year, as well as confirming the launch date for its first DLC expansion, Claws of Awaji.

While it's not soaring to the top of my personal rankings, Assassin's Creed Shadows is certainly one of the strongest entries in the series. It's another colossal open-world game, but with its dual protagonists providing two unique ways to play, it doesn't feel quite as bloated and cumbersome as, say, AC Valhalla.

While one playthrough of a modern day Assassin's Creed game can feel like quite enough, given their size, that hasn't stopped die-hard fans requesting a New Game Plus experience. The Nightmare difficulty mode that was added to the game earlier in the year upped the level of challenge, but that hasn't quietened the calls for NG+. Next week, Ubisoft will deliver.

In a huge new update that drops on Tuesday, July 29, Assassin's Creed Shadows will get a New Game Plus mode. Just so long as the credits have rolled after the final main story mission, you'll be able to access NG+. This will reset your story and objective board progression and conceal all your discovered locations again. However, your character level, gear, skill points, Knowledge rank, and Hideout progression will remain untouched.

When you launch into NG+, you have the option to relive the prologue section of the game, or you can skip ahead to the beginning of the main storyline proper. Oh, and don't think your New Game Plus clears will go unrewarded - you'll be able to earn exclusive gear at the end of each NG+ playthrough.

Aside from New Game Plus, several other big changes are hitting Shadows next week. The level cap for all players is being pushed up from 60 to 80, allowing for more progression. Buildcrafting is also being expanded as a result, with new Knowledge Ranks, Knowledge Skill ranks, and Mastery levels. New upgrades for your Hideout are on the way too.

Later in the year in September, another chunky update will arrive for Assassin's Creed Shadows that's packed full of quality of life changes. PC players will be able to enjoy uncapped framerates for cinematic cutscenes. Synchronizing with every viewpoint in a specific region will now un-fog that entire area in the world map. Plus, you'll have the ability to fast-forward through the time of day, jumping to dusk or dawn.

Also arriving in September will be the Claws of Awaji expansion, which Ubisoft claims will add over ten hours of new story content to the game. If you pre-ordered AC Shadows, it'll be yours for free. Ubisoft has given a concrete date for this DLC of September 16, so you can mark that down in your calendar now.
