It's safe to say that horror fans are going to be showered in gruesome, atmospheric, and heart-pounding new games in the coming months. Cronos The New Dawn from Bloober. New Silent Hill and Resident Evil games. The upcoming slate already looks remarkably good. Well, here's one more to throw in the mix, and if you've ever thought that Hellraiser was a franchise worthy of a great horror game, I've got the best possible news for you. Saber Interactive, the creator of Space Marine 2, has revealed Hellraiser Revival.

A first-person survival horror game featuring the Cenobites and their iconic leader, Pinhead, Hellraiser Revival has been announced in spectacular fashion. Playing as Discover Aidan, you must survive against terrifying Cenobite cultists and "unlock the dark powers of the Genesis Configuration, a mysterious puzzle box." Doing so will save his girlfriend from a lifetime in Hell. The box will imbue you with abilities that will help you defeat (or satiate) the "masochistic" enemies in your way - and make pacts with Pinhead himself. This all sounds like a one-way ticket to our best horror games list.

Things get even better, though, when you realize just how authentically Hellraiser this game really is. The original actor behind Pinhead, Doug Bradley, reprises his role for the first time in 20 years. Even though this is an all-new narrative being told, it will be canonical to the other Hellraiser stories we've encountered before.

While Saber is on publishing duty, it's being developed by Boss Team Games, which has already shown it can make brilliantly authentic horror games with its asymmetrical Dead By Daylight rival, Evil Dead The Game. Admittedly, that project didn't exactly write its name in the horror history books (support ended in 2023, and now it's been completely delisted from Steam), but there was still a lot to love. Hellraiser Revival thankfully veers away from the multiplayer space that DBD dominates - this will be a fully single-player game. Interestingly, Pinhead did feature as a crossover Killer in DBD until the entire Hellraiser-themed chapter was removed a few months ago.

Where Hellraiser Revival will rank among the upcoming flurry of new horror games remains to be seen, as we've only got a few glimpses of gameplay to go off of at the end of its reveal trailer. Hellraiser Revival is also currently without a release date or window, so it's unclear when exactly it'll be in players' hands.
