Looking at the Wildgate system requirements, this sci-fi Sea of Thieves-like adventure will prove little challenge to your average gaming rig. However, if you've ever set sail in Sea of Thieves, you'll know that the game and its numerous updates can demand a respectable chunk of your existing storage space, which could also happen in Wildgate as time goes by.
You certainly won't need the best gaming PC from our buying guide to get Wildgate running, and it's very likely that the game will perform fairly well on older hardware, considering that the recommended specs call for a graphics card that's over five years old.
Here are the Wildgate system requirements:
Minimum | Recommended | |
OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 10 64-bit |
GPU | Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti AMD Radeon RX 570 Intel Arc A380 |
Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT Intel Arc A580 |
VRAM | 4GB+ | 8GB |
CPU | Intel Core i5-4440 AMD Ryzen 5 1600 |
Intel Core i7-9700K AMD Ryzen 7 3700X |
RAM | 8GB | 16GB |
Storage | 15GB | 15GB |
By modern gaming standards, the Wildgate minimum requirements are nothing that your average gaming laptop or PC won't already be packing or exceeding. With just an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 570 GPU, an Intel Core i5-4440 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 CPU, and 8GB of RAM, you'll be able to get the game running. Unfortunately, the developer Moonshot Games hasn't provided any performance expectations for this level of hardware, but it's probably safe to assume you'll need the in-game settings set to "Low" with this setup.
The Wildgate recommended specs might be a jump, but it's hardly rocketing to the latest hardware or demanding one of the best graphics card picks from our buying guide. In fact, you'll only need an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070, AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, or a similar 8GB VRAM GPU to meet the developer's recommendations. You'll also need an Intel Core i7-9700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X CPU paired with 16GB of RAM, none of which should be out of reach for devices less than five years old.
By far the least challenging aspect of the Wildgate PC requirements is its storage demands. Requiring only 15GB of space, the Wildgate download size is but a fraction of its direct gameplay comparison: Sea of Thieves. You won't even need an SSD to get Wildgate running, but we would caution against using a traditional hard drive or expecting the Wildgate download size to remain low forever.
Much like Sea of Thieves, the Wildgate storage demands could increase significantly over the course of several updates. As such, you may want to consider picking up the best gaming SSD from our buying guides just in case you need the extra storage space, or need to make an upgrade in general.
As Wildgate will have a number of PvP elements, make sure you're using the best gaming keyboard and best gaming mouse from our buying guides so you can be as reactive as possible when a prospector comes barreling through your cockpit window.
