Check out the Silent Hill 2 system requirements if you plan on giving this iconic horror remake a go on PC. While the minimum requirements don't demand a lot of your gaming PC or laptop, the recommended specs could catch you out if your hardware is starting to show its age.

While the best graphics card from our handy buying guide would be overkill for Silent Hill 2, it's nice to have if you're aiming for decent performance at a higher resolution. That being said, the Silent Hill 2 system requirements also clearly state that Nvidia DLSS, or an equivalent upscaling tech, is required for solid performance at 4K.

Here are the Silent Hill 2 system requirements:

Minimum (1080p, 30fps, low preset) Recommended (1080p, 60fps, high preset)
OS Windows 10 64-bit Windows 11
CPU Intel Core i5 8400
AMD Ryzen 3 3300X
Intel Core i7 8700K
AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
RAM 12GB 16GB
GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
AMD Radeon RX 5700
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080
AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT
VRAM 8GB 16GB
Storage 50GB 50GB
Notes SSD Recommended SSD Recommended
4K requires DLSS or similar upscaling

The Silent Hill minimum requirements start off as expected, with an Nvidia GeForce GTX GPU, meaning even decade-old systems should have no major issues playing the game. There's nothing scary about the barrier to entry, and it's stated that the above specs should result in 30fps gameplay on the lowest graphical settings at 1080p. You'll also only need 12GB of RAM, which is low compared to the standard 16GB demand.

The Silent Hill 2 recommended specs are a fair jump up, with an RTX 2080 or Radeon RX 6800 XT being needed. There's less of a leap when it comes to CPU power, but you will need to double your system memory to 16GB. If you meet these demands, you can expect 60fps gameplay on medium settings at 1080p, or 30fps with high settings at 1080p.

As for the Silent Hill 2 download size, it comes in considerably higher than the original PS2 game at 50GB, but this is quite reasonable by modern standards.

While not a hard requirement, it is recommended that you use an SSD to store the game on, so check out our best gaming SSD buying guide to find a drive that works with your existing gaming PC and budget.
