There's something weirdly delightful about all of Strange Scaffold's games, something that hooks you in and makes it almost impossible to look away, be it trading organs in a strange alien universe or clicking items in an eerie hotel room. I'm always excited when the studio announces a new project, waiting with bated breath to see what weird and wonderful world we'll be presented with next - and it looks like the latest game, Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking, won't disappoint. If you don't believe me, you can play the entire thing for free right now.

There are cooking games, and there are horror games, and then there are cooking horror games, and then there is whatever Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking is. It's weird looking, but in the best way. In Strange Scaffold's first multiplayer game, you play as a medieval monk chef, attempting to hold back the oncoming tide of an apocalypse every year by sating the hunger of massive Kaiju.

It looks like this chaotic online co-op game will have all my favorite bits of cooking in games. You can chop, salt, throw in some monster parts, or even burn the food if you like; the only important bit is to remember to deliver the meal via catapult to the giant Kaiju. Or don't, but on your head be it.

And if you thought that was intriguing, it gets better. You and your friends will have just ten minutes to navigate a mind-bending labyrinth and cook up improvised meals for those hungry Kaiju, all while being chased by creepy monsters. Better watch your step though, because some of those traps look downright gnarly.

Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking hits Steam on July 29. From today, Wednesday July 16, you can play the full game for free in an open playtest. It's set to be updated nearly every day as prelaunch development draws to a close.

Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking will be the seventh title released by Strange Scaffold in two years, following the likes of Life Eater, Clickholding, and I Am Your Beast. If you haven't already, you can pick up the above as part of a discounted bundle for a limited time on Steam. Those who grab the bundle will also get Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking at 30% off, on top of the 10% discount that's already running for the game's launch.

You can find out more about the game and check out the playtest here.
