The latest Dune Awakening patch notes are here, and developer Funcom has fixed a prevalent item duplication glitch. Some players had previously been able to copy items while trading via the Exchange, but this exploit is now a thing of the past. Funcom says you might still see any duplicated items in your inventory, but confirms "they don't exist."
With Dune Awakening's 1.1.15.0 hotfix 2 issued on Wednesday July 16, Funcom has addressed the latest item duplication bug. In the dev's own words, it has "fixed a vulnerability that allowed item duplication at the Exchange, while trading or in inventories. Visually, you may see duplicated items on your game client, but they don't exist."
This is the second time in a matter of weeks that Funcom has raced to fix an item duping exploit. Resource scarcity is central to the game's economy, the Dune universe, and the best MMOs in general, so such issues are naturally a major concern.
The issues relate to the game's Exchange, a player-driven marketplace where you can buy and sell items. As you can imagine, having the ability to duplicate items and then trade them threaten to throw off the game's balancing.
That's not all, however, as Funcom has also delivered other minor fixes, including improved server and client stability, plus a connection issue fix. If you've previously spotted invisible items when moving your goods between inventories, that has also been addressed. Finally, Funcom says it has "fixed an additional instance of the issue where players were sometimes unable to travel from Arrakeen and Harko Village to the Overland Map."
You should also check your in-game 'Claim Rewards' tab, after Funcom accidentally re-enabled PvP in some of the Deep Desert's PvE areas. If you lost any vehicle components, materials, or items, you should now have them back.
