Asus is obsessed with throwing gold onto its ROG Astral RTX 5000 graphics cards, with the latest example being this new RTX 5090 Real Gold Edition. If you thought the 6.5g of 24-carat gold on the Dhahab Edition card was over the top, this new card has a preposterous 5kg of 24-carat gold incorporated into the design, including the backplate, frame, and outer shell.

While the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 maintains the top spot on our guide to buying the best graphics card for its sheer power, the model we tested was much more subtle with its design. We've already covered the Dhahab edition graphics cards and the stunning price that scalpers were asking for when selling them on eBay, but this new golden design will surely demand a much higher price.

The Asus ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Real Gold Edition has been showcased at Bilibili World 2025 and spotted by ITHome. While early signs suggest this tricked-out graphics card won't be hitting the market like the Dhahab did, based on the lack of marketing materials and a price, this is probably for the best, given that the cost of the materials alone is reportedly over $539,000, based on current gold prices of $107,656.77 per kilogram, at the time of writing.

Instead, the golden graphics card will likely appear at a few more tech shows before it is ultimately auctioned off with the proceeds donated to charity, as has been the case with previous one-off or signed Asus products, although this is subject to confirmation.

If you look past the sheer weight of the design, the RTX 5090D silicon is reportedly unchanged, and the design of the card is too big for most standard PC cases, according to TechPowerUp. It would be quite the sight to see this graphics card in action as part of a gaming rig, but it seems most likely that the eventual owner could simply keep it as a collectible for display.
