Dying Light and Hunt Showdown rival Sker Ritual gets reimagined in new update

If you want to have a spooky good time with friends you have no shortage of potential options. Arcade action like the Killing Floor or goofy hijinks in Lethal Company can entertain for hours. Even in this crowded field, Sker Ritual stands out. It's a co-op horror shooter with some serious heft, calling to mind games like Dying Light and Hunt: Showdown. The latest update for Sker Ritual is a major one, adding oft-requested features and brand new layers of customization.

A new update Sker Ritual is the multiplayer spin-off to the single player survival horror game, Maid of Sker. It takes some of the concepts from its moodier cousin, Celtic folk horror for example, and cranks up the volume, turning it into a chaotic action game. You can still stay afraid, many of the best horror games have action trappings (think of Resident Evil 4's swarming hordes).

Sker Ritual's latest update adds one of the game's most-requested features: integrated voice chat. The feature is still in development, but you can try it out with your friends. You can now play in third person, which you can select from the graphics options. You can even customize your point-of-view, positioning the camera in either near, normal, and far modes. Custom games have also been added, letting you tinker with over 70 modifiers to create your own Sker Ritual experience. Be aware, you can not earn achievement or masks while playing custom games.

You can pick up Sker Ritual for $12.24 on Steam until July 24.
