Mecha Break's first patch will make the most common currency easier to earn

As Amazing Seasun Games begins fixing Mecha Break's most pressing post-launch problems, the studio outlines the very first patch. The free-to-play multiplayer shooter originally had potential to be one of the most promising new games of 2025, attracting enormous numbers of players during its initial demos. Currently, however, there is a large amount of criticism from Mecha Break's playerbase regarding the game's monetization and overall design. In response, Amazing Seasun promises to make Mecha Break's most common currency easier to earn and outlines many other improvements.

While its player count is impressive, the reception to Mecha Break has been anything but. As of this writing, its overall Steam rating remains mixed, based on responses from more than 17,000 players. The main point of content is an overabundance of microtransactions. Players also note that some bundles in the free PC game can cost nearly $50, with an in-game auction house rewarding real money over skill.

In response, Amazing Seasun outlines a litany of changes that players can expect from Mecha Break's first patch. The team says the update has "a quick turnaround," and that it has "prioritized the most pressing issues."

For starters, players can expect a major improvement to Matrix Credit earn rates - Matrix Credit is Mecha Break's most common currency and can be used to purchase mechs or cosmetics. "You can now sell modular weapons and airdrop devices for more Matrix Credits," Amazing Seasun Games writes. "Additionally, Matrix Credit rewards for in-game missions are getting a boost."

Another major complaint from players is that some mechs - referred to in Mecha Break as 'strikers' - can't be customized, but that's about to change. The Amazing Seasun team explains that custom paint jobs are coming to special edition strikers, with the Falcon Custom up first. So if you want to livery your machine in a hot pink, or make it look like Evangelion Unit-01, you can.

Amazing Seasun is also overhauling the striker selection screen to show map details. This means you'll be able to see the map type, mission objectives, and victory conditions ahead of time, making it much easier to get the right loadout ready.

If you decide to start playing Mecha Break ranked, you'll now be protected through the early tiers. If you're in Bronze, Silver, or Gold, you won't lose points after losing a match. "We hope this adjustment allows new players to approach their early battles with a more relaxed mindset," Amazing Seasun Games writes.

You'll also be able to complete weekly missions via Mecha Break's casual mode when the first patch drops, alongside earning rewards like mission tokens. All opposite-sex pilots will be unlocked for free. If you've spent any Corite on buying those so far, with the first Mecha Break patch, that Corite will be refunded.

The Mecha Break team has also noticed some manipulative trading practices, so it will be changing how the system works for the foreseeable future. "To protect players from exploitative trades, the in-game mail item-sending feature will be temporarily disabled," Amazing Seasun says. "Attachments in already-sent mail will remain unaffected. For secure transactions, please use the Matrix Marketplace instead."

Amazing Seasun Games is making major changes to Mashmak, Mecha Break's PvPvE battle royale mode. You'll no longer be penalized for inactivity by items being taken away from you; "Mashmak isn't meant to be super intense all the time," Amazing Seasun admits. This doesn't mean intentional AFKing or trolling won't be dealt with, however, so you're still encouraged to report this as it happens.

Finally, after the first Mecha Break patch, once the last extraction point has been activated and used, the time limit on the current match will be extended. "This gives everyone extra time to launch key items with rocket beacons," Amazing Seasun confirms.

Amazing Seasun Games says the first Mecha Break patch is scheduled for Friday July 18.
