I love it when a plan comes together, and there are few more fulfilling videogame implementations of that than the likes of Satisfactory and Factorio. Watching your carefully placed construction line whirr into action to make products and materials is the ultimate culmination of hours of effort. In one of the most logical connections ever made, relaxing new sandbox game Block Factory takes that concept and infuses it with Lego-style building blocks, tasking you with manufacturing all manner of figurines to your heart's content, and it's yours for just $10.

Built by Overpowered Team and published by Shiro Unlimited, Block Factory is all about laying down magnificent networks of construction buildings and conveyor belts to automate production lines. It's got all the hallmarks of some of our best sandbox games, except here there's a very clear and tangible process thanks to the products you're actually making. You'll be manufacturing all manner of Lego-style creations, from simple boats to racing cars and, gradually, ever more complex designs. Naturally, your factory will need to cut, paint, shape, and stack each individual brick to reach your ultimate goal.

Block Factory's campaign mode offers five archipelagos that function as its 'chapters.' Each contains multiple islands with dioramas that are built around a specific theme, determining the particular figurine you're tasked with building. There are a total of 24 islands and 75 figures, beginning small but quickly escalating to bigger, more intricate requests that will require careful planning and precision as you put each segment together before combining them into the final figurine.

In order to succeed, you'll not only have to make the desired object correctly, but do so while meeting conditions such as reaching a certain throughput of units per minute. Meet your goals and you'll earn new machines, creating new possibilities through more detailed part combinations, as well as upgrades that can boost the performance of your production line.

Beyond the levels offered through its main progression, Block Factory lets you embrace your own designs through its creative mode. Using an editing tool with access to every block type in the game, you can build your own custom figurines and dioramas, which you can then attempt to organize a manufacturing chain for. You can also share these with other players via the Steam Workshop, challenging them with putting together your product.

Block Factory is out now on Steam, with a 10% launch discount available through Friday July 25 meaning you'll pay $8.99 / £7.65 until then, or $9.99 / £8.50 once the sale ends. Get it here and prepare to lose hours to the joys of creation.
